Margot Robbie Recalls Job Offer From Hooters At 16 After Filming Ad For The Restaurant

Hollywood star Margot Robbie has revealed that she could have followed a different career path other than acting. She shared in a recent interview that she was offered the chance to be a “Hooter Girl” after appearing in a commercial for the company at the age of 16.

The actor also talked about his role in “Babylon,” sharing that he advised the film’s director to reduce the amount of coke his character was asked to ingest. In a previous interview, he revealed that starring in the film was quite exhausting and that he was “crushed” at the end of the job.

In an interview with New Music ExpressRobbie took a walk down memory lane to tell the story of how he was once offered a job as a waitress at the age of 16 to work at the popular restaurant chain, Hooters.

The actor recalled that he was offered the job after appearing as a patron in an advertisement for the company at the time.

Although he didn’t explain why he was offered the job, Robbie shared that the gesture gave him a lot to think about.

He said, “At the end of the day, they offered me a job, and I was like, ‘I think this is my career path, and I’ll end up working at Hooters.'”

The actress also said that the restaurant franchise, which is known for wearing short and minimal uniforms of its female employees to serve its customers, did not pay her for the show.

Margot Robbie In The Role Of ‘Babylon’

Elsewhere in his interview with NME, the actor revealed about his character in Damien Chazelle’s film, “Babylon.” She insisted that it was “fun” and “amazing” to star in the film and also got to give advice to the filmmakers about her character, Nellie LaRoy.

He said, “I think the only note I gave Damien… obviously there’s a lot of drugs in this movie, and I’m playing a character who does a lot of drugs. But he would have them line up cokes the size of hotdogs.”

Robbie recalled advising Chazelle to reduce the amount of coke depicted on screen because viewers might find it hard to believe. He added, “I was like, ‘Damien, he’s going to die. This is an OD situation. People are going to watch this movie and know that this is ridiculous.'”

Apparently the “La La Land” director didn’t heed the actor’s advice, as Robbie’s next statement indicated that his friends who watched the premiere were aware of the ridiculous amount of coke.

“Some friends last night, that’s the first thing they said. They were like, ‘It’s kind of ridiculous how much coke there is,'” “The Wolf of Wall Street” actor recalled.

Robbie also shared that substitutes were used in place of coke in the film, adding that the different ingredients didn’t prevent sniffles from making him uncomfortable later on.

“It’s either vitamin B powder or icing sugar, or baby laxatives. However, it hurts after a while.

All About ‘Babylon’

“Babylon,” currently showing in theaters, is set in Hollywood in the 1920s when the film industry was making huge advances in its cinematography.

In addition to Robbie, the film stars a large number of Hollywood’s best actors, including Brad Pitt, Jean Smart, Jeff Garlin, Max Minghella, Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde, Lukas Haas, Samara Weaving and Eric Roberts.

Despite having the best around him, Robbie previously shared that their presence doesn’t make the job any easier.

“I have never worked so hard in my life. [I was] devastated by the end of the job,” said the actress during her interview with WSJ Magazine, per Many people.

Following his role in “Babylon,” Robbie is set to star in the live-action film adaptation of the animated series “Barbie,” alongside Ryan Gosling.
