Firebrand representative Marjorie Taylor Greene told Alejandro Mayorkas to resign as homeland security secretary and blasted FBI Director Christopher Wray for not fighting pro-Palestinian activists during a hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday.
Greene (R-Ga.) called on Republicans to work with Democrats to block his impeachment resolution against Mayorkas earlier this week — while warning the security chief that his days are over.
“Eight Republicans are joining the Democrats and protecting your job,” he told Mayorkas. “But I want you to know that you have a short time. You can resign honorably or we will prosecute you.”
“Secretary Mayorkas continues to focus on the safety and security of our country,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security in a statement. “This baseless attack is completely without merit and a dangerous distraction from our critical national security priorities.”
Greene then launched an attack on Wray, who joined Mayorkas for a House Homeland Security Committee hearing on global threats.
He berated him for what he described as the FBI’s lack of action against the Oct. 18 pro-Palestinian protest on Capitol Hill.
“I have never seen in the news where the FBI is hunting them with helicopters, tanks in the streets, raiding their houses with flashbangs, targeting these people,” he complained, noting a text message allegedly on one of the protesters’ phones discussing the global intifada. .

“You are the director of the FBI. Are you hunting terrorists in our country – those who will be responsible for jihad?” he asked.
“Absolutely,” replied Wray.
Greene held up an image related to the ordeal and stated that he had posted the photo on his X account. Wray responded that he doesn’t “spend a lot of time on Twitter.”
“I’m sure you did it because the Department of Homeland Security organized with other offices [and] has censored many Americans including myself,” he replied.
“I’m not part of the Department of Homeland Security,” he replied.
Greene implored Wray to prioritize the investigation of jihad and terrorism in the US. He then surrendered his time.

Earlier in the hearing, Wray clashed with Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.), who told him whether the bureau had agents involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
Wray vehemently denied any notion that the Capitol subversion was orchestrated by “FBI sources or FBI agents,” but refused to go into where the bureau had confidential sources.
“We can’t get a straight answer, even though we have a large amount of evidence harvested and reviewed over the last year that you will see in September,” Higgins began his question.

“You confirmed that the FBI had confidential human resources at the Stop Stealing rally on January 6th here in DC, sir?”
“I’m not going to go where we have or don’t use difficult human resources,” Wray replied.
Higgins then turned to allegations of “ghost buses.”

“It’s common in law enforcement, it’s a vehicle used for covert purposes. It’s already painted,” explained Higgins.
This prompted one Democrat on the subcommittee to complain that Higgins had gone before his time.
“I think your time is up,” Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) agreed.
Higgins used his remaining time to issue a dubious claim that the FBI had a busload of individuals dressed as supporters of former President Donald Trump on the day of the riots.
“This is a very important hearing, Mr. Chairman. And these buses are evil and filled with FBI informants dressed as Trump supporters deployed to our Capitol on January 6th and your day will come, Mr. Wray!” Higgins sighed, biding his time.
