Marjorie Taylor Greene warns ‘MAGA would revolt’ if Haley ran on Trump ticket

Right-leaning Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene scoffed at the prospect Tuesday of former President Donald Trump tapping Nikki Haley to be his running mate if he wins the Republican presidential nomination.

Greene (R-Ga.), an outspoken 77-year-old Trump fan who has thought about joining his own ticket, blasted the former South Carolina governor and former ambassador to the United Nations as a “neocon.”

“MAGA will revolt if Nikki Haley is given training in the incoming Trump administration,” Greene predicted on X.

“He represents the last wing of the neocon establishment American Republican Party that we are completely done with.”

Haley’s campaign has touted significant momentum in the polls in recent months, gaining on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in Iowa and nationally, while jumping to second place in New Hampshire, according to aggregate RealClearPolitics.

Also, he lied and said he wouldn’t run against Trump.

While rumors swirled about Haley potentially serving in a second Trump administration, the 51-year-old declined to publicly disclose the prospect — repeatedly insisting on the campaign trail: “I’m not playing for second.”

Greene went on to claim to X that Haley “lied and said she wasn’t going to run against Trump.”

Back in 2021, Haley told reporters, “I will not run if President Trump does, and I will talk to him about it.”

Trump claimed Haley called him before he announced his candidacy last February.

Greene, who has endorsed Trump in the 2024 primary, openly raised the possibility of being Trump’s running mate in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in August.

“I have a lot to think about,” he said at the time. “Will I be part of President Trump’s Cabinet if he wins? Is it possible that I will become VP?”

Several prominent Republicans have actively floated Haley as a potential VP candidate for Trump.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) recently suggested he would raise it in the general election.

“If I’m voting for a purely political decision — what it looks like today is that the anti-Trump vote is going to go to Nikki Haley,” McCarthy said at the New York Times DealBook summit in late November.

Haley’s team has been touting a recent Wall Street Journal poll in which she has a 17-point lead over President Biden in a hypothetical 2024 election, while Trump can only manage a four-point margin.

The Haley campaign declined to comment on Greene’s sweep.

Trump remains the 2024 GOP frontrunner with a 48 percentage point lead in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate.

The 45th president has been cautious about his vice-presidential choice, although he has publicly lambasted his old president — Mike Pence — for his refusal to throw out the results of the Jan. 6, 2021, election.
