On Monday, March 18, Moreland submitted a petition to determine the parental relationship between him and Wayans’ daughter, Axl July Ivory Wayans.

In the filing, she seeks joint physical and legal custody of the toddler while granting visitation rights to the “White Chicks” actor.

She also asked for her legal fees and “reasonable pregnancy and birth expenses” to be paid by the Wayans. Along with the petition, Moreland filed a declaration of income and expenses to enable efforts to seek child support from the Wayans.

He went on to point out that the 51-year-old earns a monthly salary of $200,000, while his estimated annual expenses while living with the children amount to $22,080.

The 34-year-old determined that she spends $5,000 on her rent a month, nearly $9,000 on childcare, groceries, and home supplies, and $1,500 on clothing, including their children’s clothes and her program’s uniform.

Moreland stated that she wanted $2,000 for extra expenses, which she described as “child care” so she could work. Already, Wayans shares two sons, Kai and Shawn, with his ex-girlfriend, Angela Zackery, whom he dated from 1992 to 2013.

Marlon Wayans Drives His Son’s Transition

The last time Wayans made headlines, it was for openly admitting it took time and education to fully embrace his new child. Speaking about her son’s decision to switch from Amai to Kai, she admitted that she initially experienced “complete rejection.”

In his words:

“My transition as a parent, went from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance. They know I love them. They see me trying, and I’m happy, but I have to respect their wishes.”

Wayans later expressed his desire for his children to have the freedom to be themselves, emphasizing that the world would not accept them if he did not do so first.

“If they can’t get it in a household with their father and mother, how can I send them into the world with that kind of confidence? I’m so proud of them for being who they are,” he shared.

The doting dad previously got a chance to prove how much he loves Kai when he came under fire for supporting eldest son Wayan’s trans journey.

The drama started when Wayans posted a message celebrating his son on Instagram in June 2019. The caption read:

“Congratulations to my pride and joy. I wouldn’t change one disappointing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxy and back again.”

In no time, one commented, “Another brother from Hollywood failing his kids,” and another claimed, “this is wrong.”

Upon seeing the response, Wayans stated, “He’s 19 years old. He is himself until or unless he chooses something different. Love her for her, not the way I want.”
