Matthew Perry recently reflected on Jennifer Aniston challenging him about his alcohol issues.

In a preview of his interview with Diane Sawyer, the 53-year-old talked about how his “Friends” co-star confronted him about his addiction struggles.
The actress shared that while they were on set one particular day, Aniston had walked up to her and boldly said, “we know you’ve been drinking,” implying that she and the cast were well aware of Perry’s unusual love of alcohol at the time.
Perry later revealed that the confrontation was “scary,” though she didn’t discuss why she felt that way.
Following the confrontation, Aniston continued to reach out to her co-star amid her addiction struggles, which Perry claims she owes her.
The actor told Sawyer in a brief clip, per Every day Mail, “He’s the one who reaches out the most. You know, I’m very grateful to him for that.” On October 28, an extended version of the interview will air on ABC.

In addition to suffering from chronic alcoholism, Perry also dabbled in opioids. In the interview, he admitted that the constant use of both substances wreaked havoc on his body. He also shared that the habit prevented him from making good use of the fame and success he gained from starring in “Friends.”
Perry reflected in the interview, “At a time when I should have been the toast of the town, I was in a dark room meeting nothing but drug dealers and being completely alone.”
Having broken free from the shackles of her addiction, Perry now has the right to tell her story to the world. The actress told Sawyer that she opened up about her troubled past because she felt deep in her heart to “do something that would help people.”

Ahead of the publication of the book, the actress spoke to him Many people, reiterated that the purpose of coming out now is to give people a chance to learn from his ordeal. He also explained why he waited so long to tell his story despite being sober for a while.
“I want to share when I’m safe from going to the dark side of everything again,” the actress told the publication for their latest cover story. “I had to wait until I was safe enough – and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction – to write it all down. And the main thing is, I’m pretty sure that it will help people.”

Some of Perry’s downfalls include how his addiction got him down to 128 pounds. At the time, he was taking 55 Vicodin tablets a day while also consuming large amounts of alcohol.
His drug use eventually caused a gastrointestinal perforation that landed him in the ICU with barely a two percent chance of survival. The actor was in a coma for two weeks and another five months in the hospital. In addition, she has been using a colostomy bag for nine months to collect stool from her body.
Fortunately for the actor, he was able to recover from the damage his substance abuse caused.
“I’m pretty good right now,” Perry said Many people. “I don’t have to go to the gym anymore, because I don’t want to just be able to play superheroes. But no, I’m a pretty healthy man now.”
