A close friend of the star who spoke to him Us Weekly believe he died of an “overdose.”

“He has struggled with sobriety for years,” a source shared with the news outlet. “Every time he falls off the car, there’s a huge sense of shame.”

They continued, “After Friends ended, there was a lot of depression and frustration in her career. She struggled with her mental health but never got help for it. In the autopsy report obtained by Explosion, Perry’s official cause of death was revealed as “acute effects of Ketamine.” The autopsy also reported drowning, coronary artery disease, and side effects from buprenorphine as contributing factors but not the direct cause of death.

Perry said in his memoirs that he would “continue to sign up for this S— [ketamine treatments]” because “it’s something different, and anything different is good,” even though he felt like he “died” during the procedure.

“Taking K was like getting hit over the head with a giant happy shovel. But drunkenness is rough and beyond spades,” he wrote.

In his memoirs, the actor spoke of attending rehab 15 times throughout his life and claimed to have been sober for 18 months when the book was published.

An insider told the news outlet that Perry’s breakup “broke her heart.” They added, “He was never the same after that. He tried dating after that but he didn’t have a relationship.”

Perry never married and died childless, two things she reportedly wanted to have.
