According to Daily Mail, A close friend of the late actor, who chose to remain anonymous, insists that Perry never really achieved sobriety and that he lied about overcoming his addiction.
Perry, in his 2022 memoir, claimed to have recovered with the help of a sober coach and close friends. However, recent claims by her close acquaintances suggest a different reality, painting a picture of an ongoing struggle for the beloved star.
“He lied to everyone about being clean. He never was. It is very sad. You know, the biggest lie he ever told was probably to himself,” the source revealed.
“He can be a bit manipulative when it comes to his struggle to use, but it’s a struggle, a battle, and he’s fighting every day to the end,” Perry’s friend added.
Autopsy Report Confirms Cause of Death as Ketamine Overdose

Recent autopsy findings obtained by Explosion has confirmed the actor’s cause of death was a Ketamine overdose along with other contributing factors, confirming initial suspicions surrounding his earlier passing.
Authorities revealed that Perry had the same amount of Ketamine in his system as a hospital patient under general anesthesia, which led to his death arising from the “acute effects of Ketamine” and drowning.
“The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department determined the cause of death of 54-year-old actor Matthew Langford Perry to be the acute effects of ketamine,” the Los Angeles coroner’s office recently revealed.
They continued, “Contributing factors to Mr. Perry’s death included drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder). The manner of death is an accident.”
He was reportedly being treated for his depression through Ketamine infusion therapy, but that was about a week and a half before he was found face down in his hot tub. Since Ketamine only stays in a person’s system for three to four hours, it is believed that it did not directly lead to Perry’s death. His peripheral blood Ketamine level was 3,540 ng/ml and 3,271 ng/ml in central blood.

In an honest and revealing memoir he released in November last year, the actor opened up about his difficult battle with addiction, detailing a personal journey to sobriety that reportedly cost him a staggering $9 million, according to Daily Mail.
In his memoirs, “Friends, Lovers, and Big Awful Things,” Perry shared that after his colon exploded in 2018, the opiate drugs he was given didn’t seem to be enough to help him deal with his pain, leading him to turn to street dealers to supply him with potentially lethal OxyContin, possibly laced with fentanyl.
“Street pills were about $75 per pill, so I gave the guy $3,000 at a time, multiple times a week,” he wrote.
In his quest to break free from alcohol and substance abuse, he reportedly had to undergo a dozen life-saving surgeries, 15 trips to rehab clinics, go to 6,000 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and undergo 65 detoxes. He claims to have overcome his addiction and lead a healthier lifestyle, even making pickleball his sport of choice.

In the wake of Perry’s tragic death, concerns have been raised about the circumstances surrounding his ketamine overdose autopsy report. His ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, who he met in 2006 and worked as Perry’s assistant in 2011, called for a full investigation into the doctors involved in treating him.
follow US SunEdwards, who once bought Perry medication for him, shared his disbelief at the report that he got the drug off the street, calling his doctor for further clarification.
“I’m pretty sure that in Matthew’s brain, the ketamine infusion at the doctor would count as still being conscious,” he said. “In his mind, it’s not the same as going to the street to buy crack or heroin.”
He went on to convey his suspicions about Perry’s ketamine therapy prompting him to relapse outside of the doctor’s office.
“That might be a stepping stone for him to go back to doing drugs,” Edwards continued. “I think the doctor who worked with Matthew should be investigated. I’m sure he’ll see a doctor.”
Perry’s former partner claimed that he was “not surprised” when the autopsy report was released because he “already knew what it was” because Perry “didn’t seem right during the last few weeks of his life.”
Rest in peace, Matthew Perry.
