Almost two months after Matthew Perry’s death, more information has been released to shed light on the actor’s cause of death.
The official autopsy report obtained by Explosion reveal exactly the cause and manner of Perry’s death. The beloved actress died from the acute effects of Ketamine, with the manner of her death being ruled an accident.
Perry was found dead in the backyard of his Los Angeles home. His “Friends” co-stars have all personally paid tribute to him and are now reportedly planning to honor him at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

According to the actor’s autopsy report, his death was ruled an “accident,” and the cause was the acute effects of Ketamine. Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy, with the most recent dose starting a week and a half before his death.
The document revealed that Perry was found “unresponsive, floating face down [the] end of a heated pool” in his backyard in LA. Although there were prescription drugs and loose pills in her home, none were near the pool where she died, and “no drugs, medicine or drug paraphernalia were adjacent to the pool.”
The autopsy report also stated that “there were no signs of fatal trauma and no foul play was suspected.”
As reported by The Blast, the actor uses Ketamine therapy to treat his “anxiety and depression.”
Perry’s body was found in a hot tub at his home by his assistant, whom he had sent on an errand while he reportedly participated in a two-hour game of Pickleball.
An autopsy reported drowning, coronary artery disease, and side effects from buprenorphine as contributing factors but not the direct cause of death.

A few months before his unfortunate death, Perry launched The Matthew Perry Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
After his death, Perry’s desire to support individuals in their journey to overcome substance abuse lives on through the Matthew Perry Foundation.
A statement from the foundation read: “In the spirit of Matthew Perry’s ongoing commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction, We embarked on a journey to honor his legacy by establishing the Matthew Perry Foundation, guided by his own words and experiences, and fueled by his passion to make change in as many lives as possible.”
Currently, the Matthew Perry Foundation, sponsored and managed by the National Philanthropic Trust and run as a donor advised fund, only accepts donations.

Insiders tell Daily Mail that Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matt Le Blanc, and David Schwimmer plan to honor their late friend. Perry played the charismatic and funny Chandler Bing in the popular series “Friends”.
The source told the news outlet, “When it comes to Matthew’s death, emotions are still running high and it’s still a very touching situation, which is completely understandable. But Jen, Lisa, and the rest of the cast want to honor him publicly at some point and give him the respect he deserves — and there’s a ruckus to do it at next year’s Emmys.”
