Meghan Markle’s sister Samantha arrives in Florida court to launch defamation case against her

Samantha Markle looked worse for wear as she arrived at a Tampa courthouse on Wednesday for a defamation case against her half-sister, Meghan Markle.

Samantha, 58, is suing the Duchess of Sussex, 42, in federal court in Florida for allegedly making “false and malicious statements” about her to a global audience during her and Prince Harry’s March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Samantha, who has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair, filed a $75,000 lawsuit after the exiled king claimed she grew up as an only child.

The comments caused Samantha to suffer “humiliation and hatred,” she claims in the filing, which was submitted in March 2022 and dismissed in March of this year.

US District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell wrote in her order that Meghan’s statement was opinion and “cannot be proven false.”

Samantha is now making a last ditch effort to bring the case to trial in Florida.

Judge Honeywell, who is overseeing the case, is expected to decide whether to proceed with the trial in the coming weeks.

Speaking to reporters outside court, Samantha said she was “optimistic” about her case, and believed it had the legs to go to trial.

“I think the truth stands on its own, so I’m optimistic and grateful that we have a justice system that gives us the opportunity to present the facts,” he told The US Sun.

She also defended her book, “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1,” and insisted it wasn’t “all punchline”.

“Anyone who has read my book knows it’s more of a sociological book about social labels,” he told the outlet.

“Actually the title is not a jab at him [Meghan]it’s a mockery of the social label because the media has previously called her ‘Princess Pushy.’”

Samantha, who said she was hurt by the Duchess of Sussex’s statement, told Fox 13, “People change, they have agendas, they have other things that affect their lives. It doesn’t change reality.”

Her lawyer, Peter Ticktin, claimed Samantha was now afraid to leave her home after being harassed every day since Meghan’s interview came to light.

Elsewhere, Meghan’s lawyer Michael Kump said Samantha’s case was baseless.

“It’s always been a lawsuit to find a viable claim,” Klump said. “The case fails because it runs afoul of defamation laws and the First Amendment.”

The Post has contacted representatives of the Duchess of Sussex for comment.
