Meghan Markle’s “Suits” co-star Rick Hoffman claims the “stink” is what caused his famous meme from the Duchess’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Hoffman, who plays Louis Marlowe Litt in the legal drama, said his disgusted expression was due to the smell, which he only felt among guests close to him.
According to two royal biographers, Meghan was unhappy with the smell of St. George and tried to cover it with various diffusers.

During a recent interview on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast, Hoffman finally revealed the story behind his famous disgust meme from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018. He said, “If you type my name into Google, you see [me] making that horrible face.”
Hoffman explained that shortly after he took his seat at St. George’s Chapel, he “began to smell something very horrible and foul.”
The actress said she initially thought other guests nearby “had bad breath,” but she soon realized the smell was coming from “more than one person.”
She added, “I’m starting to get a little nervous because it bothers me, and I’m very sensitive about that. [The ceremony] is an hour and a half, and [the smell] just keep coming to me now. It goes into my body.”
Rick Hoffman Was The Only One Who Smelled It
Hoffman explained that he was very “mainly about cleanliness,” so he was worried people would think he was the cause of the “bad” smell.
The actor revealed on the podcast that he asked his “Suits” co-stars, who were sitting nearby if they could also smell the stench in the air, and they said they couldn’t.
He said, “So now I’m like alone on an island, and I just go, “Mother——.” And that’s it [the expression] they have [on camera that went viral].”
Hoffman also shared that Meghan was the only actor who laughed and teased him about his problems with “other people’s hygiene.”
Meghan Markle Allegedly Tried To Hide Smell In The Chapel She Wed

According to two Royal biographers, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Meghan noticed a strange smell in the Chapel where she married Harry.
In their book “Finding Freedom,” the authors claimed that Meghan was unhappy with the smell and tried to do something about it.
The Duchess of Sussex reportedly insisted on covering the smell with air fresheners and diffusers before the big day. Early reports claimed that the Palace denied Meghan’s request before the wedding, but Scobie and Durand corrected these rumors in their book.
Both wrote that the Palace actually approved the fragrance products from Diptyque Baies. However, from Hoffman’s reactions, allegations, and famous memes, the luxury product failed to cover the smell.

Hoffman’s revelation about the story behind his famous meme comes shortly after the announcement that “Suits” is getting a spin-off series. Last year, the legal drama surprised everyone by becoming the highest-streamed show after joining Netflix, holding the top spot for 12 weeks.
Now, it has been confirmed that a spin-off show, titled “Suits: LA,” is coming to Netflix. It is set in the same world as the original TV show but has entirely new characters. Its leader is a former federal prosecutor from New York named Ted Black, played by Stephen Amell, who represents the most powerful client in Los Angeles.
The official synopsis reads, “His firm is at a point of crisis, and in order to survive he must accept the role he has held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of brilliant characters who test their loyalty to Ted and to each other while their personal lives cannot help but mix and their professionals. All of this happens while events from the past year slowly unravel that have left Ted with everything and everyone he loves.”
Since the announcement of the “Suits” spin-off, there has been speculation that Meghan will appear in it, but reports have confirmed that the duchess will not be part of the new show.
