Meghan McCain Fights Against Using Ozempic For Weight Loss
While the political commentator continues to enjoy life as a mother of two children, she still channels her energy into discussing societal issues. Such was the case when the author of “Dirty Sex Politics” opened up about the pressure to use Ozempic for her postpartum weight loss in an essay.
She titled the op-ed piece, “I just gave birth, and I was urged to take Ozempic’s ‘miracle shot’ as an immediate fix … It was horrible, unfair and disturbing – and I refused.”
The public figure mentions that she’s been asked by “casual friends” and “industry contacts” to lose her baby weight with Ozempic because it’s a “new ‘miracle’ drug” that “can just melt away the pounds” for “a cool $1,000 a pop.”
However, in the article, McCain took a stand against the drug use epidemic, stating that he was not interested because he was not one of the “people who legitimately struggle with obesity and need Ozempic.”
In her words, she wrote, “Well, let me make one thing clear. I didn’t take it. I refused. There is a clear moral issue here. Taking drugs is difficult because swimsuit season is approaching, while others need it to survive . And how can this be healthy?”

In the same op-ed, the Daytime Emmy Award nominee added that she is concerned at the rate that Ozempic is being abused because it could start to affect the body positivity movement and even affect her daughter’s life.
“This is not the world I want for them, and it’s not the world I want for myself,” the former Daily Beast writer wrote before concluding, “As for Ozempic, I’d rather have a few extra pounds than shoot myself with drugs. No there’s something worth having that’s easy to get. And that goes for my health and my daughter’s health.”
