The “I Am Your Mother” singer kicked off her latest podcast by saying that she first wanted to address what happened during her previous podcast when Trisha Paytas was her guest.

“I want to apologize once again to all the teachers that I may have offended or hurt. I have lost a lot of sleep and cried myself to sleep a lot. Not because of internet hatred, I’m used to that, but thinking, or wondering, or knowing that I hurt many innocent people with my words when I got heated in a conversation about a certain teacher who hurt his feelings,” he said.

The singer then explained that not only was one of his parents a teacher, but he also aspired to be a teacher.

“I love you teacher. My father is a teacher. I want to be a teacher, but I can’t imagine today what it’s like to be a teacher to go to school every day in fear. And they are so underappreciated, underpaid, they go through so much, and I hope you know I’m not on this platform trying to spread hate to all teachers,” he said.

“I love you all and work on myself every day. We are striving to be better people. I try to spread love, happiness and joy and will work for myself to move forward. I am very sorry, there is no excuse for my words, and I hope one day you all can forgive me in your own time, and I will try to be better every day. And thank you for calling me, and thank you for helping us.”

After sharing his initial apology in a video on TikTok a few days after the podcast went live, many teachers left comments and created their own videos in response. The overall feeling is that not many people accepted his apology and were offended by his words and attitude on the podcast.

“As a kindergarten teacher who already feels unappreciated, it hurts to hear your words. We are risking our lives for our children,” wrote one teacher in the comments section.

One wonders how these words made it through the final edit. “But my honest question…how did it get through editing and final approval if it was said only in the heat of the moment??”

Another left a comment that was more of a backlash against being bullied by a teacher. “Some of us teachers were also bullied by teachers growing up. That is a big reason why many of us choose to become teachers.”

“Not genuine. When you say ‘I’m sorry IF I hurt you,’ you’re not sorry,” commented one person. Another added, “Apologies are appreciated, but actions speak louder than words. Editing it would have prevented all this grief on both sides.”

Others asked why the podcast wasn’t removed online, and others wondered how the comment made it through the editing process.

One follower pointed out why many may have trouble accepting his apology, saying, “He said, watched it, edited it, posted it, then tried to apologize. He knows what he’s doing!”
