Former first lady Melania Trump mourned her mother, Amalija Knavs, at a private funeral in Florida Thursday morning.
Knavs – who died on January 9 at the age of 78 – was honored at a 10 a.m. service at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, not far from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
Melania, 53, delivered an emotional eulogy that paid tribute to her mother’s “nurturing spirit” and “unparalleled love”.
“She embodies the best mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law – a true beacon of love and luxury in our lives,” said the former model, noting her mother’s “perfect beauty and style” that “turns heads. of many.”
“He is a true inspiration, a role model to me, and to many people,” he added.
Melania ended the seven-minute speech by saying, “Rest in peace, dear mother.”

He hugged his father, Viktor Knavs, before sitting back in the pew next to his 17-year-old son, Barron Trump.
Just before the service began, Melania looked dapper in a black suit and dark sunglasses as pallbearers carried her mother’s coffin, draped in white flowers, into the beautiful church.
He stood between his father and Barron, while Donald Trump stood on the other side of his youngest son.
The 77-year-old former president and current GOP presidential front-runner looked regal in a navy suit and black tie.

The extended Trump family – including Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, Tiffany Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancee. – was also seen arriving at the church before the ceremony began.
The former president and current GOP presidential candidate missed a day of a New York City libel trial with author E. Jean Carroll to attend his mother-in-law’s funeral — after being angered by the judge’s refusal to delay the event’s proceedings.
“I thought it was horrible. I think it’s terrible,” Trump said at a news conference in New York Wednesday about Judge Lewis Kaplan’s ruling.
The real estate mogul blasted Kaplan as a “bad guy” and “a guy who hates Trump.”

Ahead of the funeral, the city of Palm Beach issued a traffic alert warning locals of congestion near the church, which was also the site of Trump and Melania’s 2005 wedding, the Palm Beach Daily News reported.
Trump praised his late mother-in-law in his victory speech after winning the Iowa caucuses on Monday night.
“I want to thank his incredible and beautiful mother who passed away a few days ago,” Trump said. “And he’s up there, up there. He looked down on us and he was very proud of us,” he told the crowd.

“And I just want to say to Amalija, you’re special, one of the most special people I’ve ever known,” he added of the Slovenian American.
At a campaign rally, the former president also credited Knavs’ cooking as the reason why he and Melania’s son, Barron Trump, are 6 feet 7 inches tall, the Daily News said.
In addition to her husband, daughter and grandchildren, Knavs leaves behind her eldest daughter, Ines.

The Knavses raised their two daughters in Sevnica, a rural industrial town that was then part of Communist-controlled Yugoslavia.
Knavs and her husband remained relatively private during their daughter’s high-profile wedding to Trump — though they occasionally appeared at the White House during their son-in-law’s presidency.
In 2018, Knavs appeared at the launch of his daughter’s “Be Your Best” campaign.

That same year, Knavs and her husband became naturalized US citizens through a process that allows adults to help their relatives obtain green cards and permanent resident status, the New York Times reported.
Melania – who changed her surname from Knavs to Knauss during her modeling career – has become her parents’ sponsor, the outlet explained.
In recent years, the Knavses lived with the Trump family at Mar-a-Lago.
Melania announced her mother’s passing on X last week.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalija,” wrote the former first lady.
“Amalija Knavs is a strong woman who always carries herself with grace, warmth, and dignity. She was completely devoted to her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and son-in-law. We will miss him beyond measure and continue to respect and love his legacy.”
