Melanie Martin defends herself against internet trolls!
Since her lover, Aaron Carter, died last year, Martin has been doing her best to be a mother to their son while keeping his memory alive. In her latest effort to achieve that goal, the mother of one started a fundraiser in Carter’s honor, drawing mixed reactions from observers. One went so far as to accuse him of lining his pockets with funds, which he promptly shut down.
Melanie Martin Shuts Down Allegations of Using Fundraising Proceeds for Herself
When Martin worked with the Diana Awards Anti-Bullying Program, he thought it would be easy to get people to contribute towards fundraising for the non-profit organization. However, the opposite is the case, as some of them question his real goals for running the campaign.
The model hit the headlines by uploading a photo of herself and Carter wearing matching gray and white onesies. As she raised her phone to take a mirror selfie, her late husband carried their baby boy, Prince, in his arms.
“As a tribute to my beloved Harun because he has been bullied for too long. (This charity is not for me but for anti-bullying),” Martin wrote under the Instagram image, editing the caption for future trolls.

A few hours after the post went live, one curious Instagram user quipped in the comments section, “Fundraisers are ridiculous at this point – all due respect … get up and go to work. POINT BLANK. The baby needs you.. get a job and stop operating the fan pan. Not cold.”
The commentator added that everyone hustled even though it wasn’t easy and advised Martin to “work harder” because it was for him and her. Less than five minutes later, the content creator replied, “fundraisers don’t go to me, you ding dong, they go to charity.”
Despite that explanation, some trolls remained unconvinced when someone asked, “Is this a joke? Asking for friends….” Another asked, “If I donate, where does my donation go just wondering?”
Meanwhile, a fan came to Martin’s defense, writing, “How about people leaving negative comments just stop! Let’s reflect on the good and remember that Aaron did not have as many positive people in his life growing up as many of you may be blessed with.”
Although he got the short end of the stick, this isn’t the first time the social media influencer has addressed some of the challenges Carter faced while he was alive.
In February, The Blast reported that he took to several posts to express his anger and frustration after the late singer’s talent manager, Taylor, called Martin a “slimey piece of sh*t drop” for selling Carter plaques on his story. In response, the 30-year-old wrote on his Instagram Story:
“This guy is disgusting! He took Aaron’s mic 4 months ago from Aaron, and Aaron told me to text him asking for it back, but he sold it for cash! I am not silent anymore!!! Tired of constantly bothering me!!! No one sells plaques he has fake plaques online, and people say I sell them!!! I miss my fiance ? it’s not fair!”

He then accused Taylor of borrowing his ex-fiancé’s car, adding that the 34-year-old had maintained a close relationship with him thanks to his gang affiliation. In a third update, the doting mom promised to give her 221k followers proof the “Dancing with the Stars” alum told her to ask the manager to return her $4000 microphone.
“Fat Albert” Actor Talks About His Engagement Before His Death
Despite their turbulent relationship, Martin and Carter managed to create some happy moments together. According to The Blast, the celebrity couple featured a memorable clip of their beau talking to Wendy Williams about their engagement.
The video begins with the “I’m All About You” singer confirming her new relationship status as a photo of the lovebirds appears on screen. He stated, “yes, that’s my fiancée, Melanie,” before pulling the woman into the camera frame to greet Williams.
After confirming that she was five months pregnant, Martin told the talk show host that she and Carter were already living together in Atlanta before she left the conversation. Williams and the “Do You Remember” hitmaker continued to talk, with the latter expressing disbelief about becoming a father.
The influencer wrote, “I miss those days so much” above the heartbreaking footage. The previous post, shared by Carter, showed the couple relaxing in a hot tub, with the caption, “Engagement Valentine’s Week ❤️❤️❤️.”
