Earlier this week, the NFL Network announced that they have pulled former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin for the remainder of Super Bowl week and that he will not be attending any scheduled appearances. The news comes after a woman complained about an incident involving Irvin’s behavior during a meeting Sunday afternoon in Arizona.
Now, Irvin has filed a lawsuit against the individual, claiming the accusations are false and that they ruined his career.

On Sunday evening, a woman stated that she had interacted with Michael Irvin while inside a hotel in Arizona, where the Super Bowl was taking place. The woman reportedly said Irvin was behaving badly after she returned to the hotel lobby after her night out in Glendale.
“Honestly, I’m kind of confused by it all,” Irvin told The Dallas Morning News after the NFL Network pulled him from its Super Bowl coverage. “This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I came back after going out … I went into the lobby, and I talked to someone. I talked to this girl. I didn’t know him, and I talked to him for about 45 seconds.”
The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver has now filed a $100 million lawsuit against the woman who accused him of misconduct.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday afternoon after Irvin claimed the hotel he was staying at, and where the incident took place, had “conceived a plan to turn him into the next victim of ‘null culture’ for something he says never happened,” according to TMZ sports,
The lawsuit states, “Rash and thoughtless actions can have dire consequences. Marriott [parent company of Renaissance Hotels] does not seem to appreciate this simple truth when, in a rush to judgment, his employees and management inaccurately and inflammatoryly accuse Mr. Irvin of wrongdoing to the National Football League.”

Witnesses have also come to Irvin’s defense, claiming they saw the interaction take place, saying Irvin “exchanged pleasantries” with the accuser, who is named “Jane Doe” in the lawsuit, and all he did was “shake hands, and go to his room alone.”
Once Irvin and the rest of his team were informed of the allegations from the individual, they say they tried to provide witness statements to the hotel, but, they say, they refused to listen, according to the lawsuit.
The TMZ Sports report continues, “In fact, the lawsuit accuses the hotel manager of reporting the alleged incident to the NFL ‘with the intent to damage the relationship and cancel [Irvin]’.”
The former Dallas Cowboys player is seeking more than $100,000,000 as Levi McCathern, Irvin’s attorney, says not only has his reputation now been damaged by these false allegations, but the former NFL wide receiver has also lost money because he was pulled from his Super. Bowl promotion and appearance.

After NFL Network was notified of the incident, Alex Riethmiller, NFL Media’s vice president of communications, said in a statement earlier this week, “Michael Irvin will not be a part of NFL Network’s coverage of Super Bowl LVII week.”
It is unclear when or if Irvin will return to the NFL Network at this time.
