Michael Strahan’s One-On-One Interview With Damar Hamlin

On January 2, 2023, 24-year-old NFL player Damar Hamlin collapsed at midfield during the first quarter of a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin was on the field for several minutes as medical personnel rushed to the area and gave him CPR for 9 minutes when his heart stopped. After reviving him, Hamlin was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin was later hospitalized, and made a full recovery, and was even cleared by the medical staff a few months ago to return to football.
Just a month after the terrifying incident, Hamlin sat down with Michael Strahan on “Good Morning America” to talk about how grateful he is to be alive.
“That just put things in perspective for me, you know, hearing it from a doctor,” Hamlin told Strahan during a one-on-one interview. “Things could have been different and the details of the situation of everything that happened on the pitch – it could be – it could be the last for me.”

After being treated at the hospital, the first thing Hamlin asked was “Did we win?” The doctor replied, “Yes. You win the game of life,” he said.
“I’m just grateful [God] gave me a second chance, you know, just to live my life and come out almost without a scratch on me,” Hamlin told Strahan in the interview. “Just to be able to move on.”
On October 1, 2023, the Buffalo Bills Safety made his regular season debut.
