Michael “Mike” Mora, husband of Kelis has passed away. Mora’s cause of death was reportedly battling stage 4 stomach cancer. His death came months after he shared his diagnosis on social media. In September 2021, Mike shared on his Instagram that he thought he had a stomach ulcer before being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.

Kelis’ representative confirmed Mike’s death to Entertainment Tonight. They said, “Unfortunately, it is true that Mike has passed away. We would ask everyone to respect the privacy of Kelis and her family at this time.”
After experiencing the “worst pain” in his stomach, with loss of appetite and back pain, Mike said doctors told him he had stage 4 stomach cancer, which had also started to spread to the lymph nodes in his back.
Mike claimed that he began to feel “the worst pain” in his stomach, which then spread to other parts of his body. He wrote again, “Loss of appetite. The pain in my back started creeping up too…finally decided to do something about it. It’s a bit late. But just in time.”
He added, “I thought the whole time I just had an ulcer. Not knowing what was coming my way. Here I am, in a hospital bed, in the middle of an epidemic. Alone.”
Mike also claims that he doesn’t share his diagnosis for pity or attention but to help those who might be going through something like this.
Actor Evan Ross announced the news of Mike’s death on Instagram. He shared a black and white image of the photographer’s face. “We lost a brother yesterday. We will really miss you, Mike. Thinking of some of the wonderful times we all spent together. You and @naztokio recorded me at @dallasaustins studio in Atlanta.”
