The creator of Milli Vanilli, Frank Farian has died at the age of 82. The legendary music veteran died at his home in Miami two years after he received a heart valve transplant.
During his lifetime, Farian is known for writing many classic songs for the band and helping to sell over 800 million records worldwide.

The music legend died at his home in Miami, as reported by his agency. The musician’s health reportedly deteriorated after he underwent heart surgery in 2022.
The German-born singer made his name as the songwriter and producer behind iconic disco and funk group Boney M, Latin pop group No Mercy, and pop duo Milli Vanilli. Some of the songs he produced included “Daddy Cool,” “Rasputin,” “Mary’s Boy Child” and “Rivers of Babylon”, many of which topped the charts at the time of their release.
Farian also worked with other famous musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Meat Loaf, and Terence D’Arby, among others. He reportedly also turned down an offer from pop legend Michael Jackson to work on his “Dangerous” album.
He is hailed as the most successful German pop producer, reportedly one of the few to have sold over 800 million records worldwide, and earned 800 gold and platinum certifications. However, his achievements are often more recognized internationally than in his home country.
Frank Farian’s Health Deteriorated After He Had Heart Surgery

In 2022, Farian had to undergo a life-saving heart valve replacement to address some existing heart problems.
During the operation, a pig’s heart valve was inserted into his chest, as confirmed by the publisher himself in an interview with No in the year 2023.
At the time, he also claimed that he was happy with the function of his new heart valve, joking that he had “a good pig in me.”
However, the optimistic claim from Farian seems to be contradicted by reports that his health is deteriorating after the surgery. According to reports, Farian suffered significant weight loss and was dependent on a wheelchair and breathing apparatus due to lung problems.
Farian’s Former Colleagues Have Sent Messages of Condolence

After his death, condolences have poured in, some of them coming from those who worked with him.
“My condolences to his family,” said Fabian Morvan, one half of Milli Vanilli. “His music will live on. We cannot deny the happiness and joy it brings to this world.”
“Our work has been truly blessed and greatly enjoyed by people all over the world who have had the privilege of hearing it over the years,” says Liz Mitchell, who was part of the original Boney M band.
“We share and unite under a star that rises above and beyond what we dare to expect. I congratulate you on the work we are doing. Rest in peace, Frank.”
In the meantime, it is not clear when Farian’s funeral will be held.
