The body of Colorado mother Suzanne Morphew has been found – more than three years after she failed to return home from a Mother’s Day bike ride.
The 49-year-old’s body was found during a search Friday in Moffat, a town about 45 miles south of the Maysville home she shared with her husband and two daughters, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said today.
Investigators are withholding details about the condition of Morphew’s body and where it was found.
The tragic discovery was accidental as CBI agents were combing the area as part of an investigation unrelated to her disappearance.
No arrests have been made since his body was found and positively identified on Wednesday.
“Although finding Suzanne’s body is a critical component of this investigation, and for her family, we are left with more questions than answers, and it would be a disservice to conduct a press conference at this time,” said Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze. in a statement.

The development comes just three months after investigators confidently announced they knew where Morphew’s body was.
Prosecutors said “she’s in a very difficult place” and gathering enough evidence to prove she was murdered could still take years.
It is unclear whether officers have pinpointed Moffat, where the mother-of-two was eventually found.

Morphew never returned home after going for a bike ride on May 10, 2020 while her husband, Barry Morphew, was away on business.
The 55-year-old husband was initially charged with her death.
But prosecutors dropped the case last year after a judge barred lawyers from calling most of their key witnesses for repeatedly failing to comply with rules to turn over evidence in Barry’s favor.

Barry filed a $15 million lawsuit in May against prosecutors and investigators, accusing them of violating his constitutional rights.
The couple’s daughters — Macy and Mallory — have stood by their father, saying they “never had an iota of doubt” about his innocence, despite evidence that Barry and his wife’s marriage of 25 years was on the rocks.
Morphew complained about a failed relationship in a text message to his best friend just months before his disappearance.

The mother suspects Barry of having an affair — and is on her own long-distance fling with the high school flame she plans to leave her husband with.
Morphew described Barry as possessive and “narcissistic” who tried to turn their daughter against him.
Barry has consistently denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance and claims the two “had a wonderful life, a wonderful marriage,” although he remains the prime suspect in the case.
