An Oklahoma mother has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for allowing her ex-boyfriend to rape and impregnate her 12-year-old daughter.
Desiree Castaneda, 35, has allowed her ex, 24-year-old Juan Miranda-Jara, to stay with her daughter after their split — even throwing them a baby shower after the youngster became pregnant, according to Fox 23.
The would-be pedophile father was held in hospital while the abused girl was in labor, and he was later sentenced to 20 years in prison for first-degree rape.
The sick mother was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week after pleading guilty to allowing child sexual abuse and child neglect.
“The facts of this case are heartbreaking,” the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
“Children should be able to rely on their parents for protection from people like Juan Miranda-Jara.
“For Desiree Castaneda to allow this to happen to her daughter is horrific.”
The pre-teen arrived at a Tulsa hospital in June 2021 already in labor, with Miranda-Jara’s rapist father expressing his excitement at becoming a father, police said.

They “walked in just like any other couple, excited to have their newborn,” Tulsa police spokesman Danny Bean told Fox 23 in 2021.
Miranda-Jara appeared surprised by his arrest because the relationship – which was also Facebook-official – had the consent of the girl’s mother, with whom he had been in a previous relationship, police said.
The girl’s father is in prison for a separate sex crime and has no involvement in his daughter’s life, police said.
Miranda-Jara was convicted of first-degree rape in March 2022. At the same time, Castaneda was arrested for child neglect and one count of enabling the sexual abuse of a child. He pleaded guilty to the charges in late September and waived his right to a trial.

Miranda-Jara is currently serving a 20-year sentence but will be eligible for parole after 17 years.
Both must register as sex offenders upon release.
“Both defendants in this case face consequences for their actions and will spend time in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections,” the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office said.
“Our hope is that the victims in this case will be able to put this horrible chapter behind them.”
