Smith took to her Instagram Story on Monday to provide an update, assuring her 396,000 followers that Indigo would recover from the incident. “Yesterday, he bit Indigo’s face, and [Indigo] had to get stitches, and we spent yesterday morning in the emergency room,” he wrote Page Six. However, while the child is expected to be fine, minor scars may remain from the ordeal, according to Smith’s post.

The influencer stated that their relationship was very deep, stressing that he and the dog “save each other” during challenging times.

Following an unfortunate incident involving his son, Smith is dealing with a difficult decision regarding Legend’s future. Explaining, he shared, per Page Six“Since then, we’ve been looking for options, and I can’t accept what other people are saying and what you’re supposed to do, it seems — what the world tells you to do — is put the dog down. because they are aggressive.”

However, he is convinced that Legend does not deserve to be killed “because he is wonderful and can do the best with a family that does not have small children.”

Furthermore, he admitted that he had to make the difficult decision to part ways with Legend, as keeping him in his own home was no longer a viable option. In her emotional statement, she asserted, “This is going to happen everywhere, and I’ll also start by saying I never wanted to bring this to social media, but she deserves better. I will bring Indigo home tomorrow, and she should be gone by then.

Smith also clarified that he did not intend to muzzle his dog in response to the incident. She believes putting a muzzle on him will hinder his ability to be a responsible and loving dog owner, stating, “I can’t be a good dog mom to him.
