While working in New York City, he started taking part-time classes at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and later, he decided to try acting for a few years, so he resigned and came to India, where he worked on several advertising and acting projects. It’s easier than I thought. New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it felt like home during my six years there, with its vibrancy and many opportunities for people of all interests. But when I moved to Mumbai, I didn’t regret it for a moment. India is home and comfortable in an inexplicable way. So Mumbai with all its flaws still feels like home. It was a difficult transition—to move geography and career at once. Fortunately, not having doubts helps to focus on the best way to adapt to the change,” said the actor.

In 2012, Mukul debuted in the film ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ playing a supporting role. He went on to work in several other films such as ‘I, Me Aur Main,’ ‘Satyagraha,’ ‘Shuruaat Ka Interval,’ ‘Island City,’ and ‘Gurgaon.’ He received critical acclaim for his performance as Pawan in the Bollywood film ‘Sherni.’ She made her short film debut with ‘Ek Bahut Choti Si Love Story,’ and later, she appeared in many more short films including ‘Butnama,’ ‘Best Friends Forever,’ ‘Pressure Cooker,’ and ‘Banana Bread.’ In ‘Banana Bread,’ he appeared with his wife, Rasika.

I think it (the OTT space) is one of those interesting spaces where the audience and the storyteller grow together. The habit of using more experimental content is giving show makers the courage to tell stories and take risks. For us actors, things like that give us an opportunity to grow as creative beings.”
‘The Office’ Hindi Remake: Good Idea?
When the news of an Indian version of the popular British sitcom ‘The Office’ came out, it created a stir among people who had already watched the original and the American versions as they were in doubt whether the Indian version of the show would justify the original show or not. In an interview, Mukul spoke about this and said,
I get anxiety, but I’m not afraid of it. I care what people say about the show once they see it. I can’t wait for the show to come out and for people to see it with an open mind. A friend of mine told me it took him five years to forgive Steve Carell for what he did to David Brent’s character in The Office UK. So I got a fandom. I’m a fan of the show too and I know the feeling. But we have adapted the show very well here. They were very clear that they wanted an official adaptation of The Office, keeping the style of the comedy. I believe that if something is done well, it will succeed. So I hope for the best.”

- Before venturing into acting, Mukul worked as an investment banker in the United States. In an interview, he talked about changing his career from a banker to an actor. He said,
