Billionaire Elon Musk visited the southern border in Texas on Thursday and warned that “some pretty extreme migrants” are crossing into the US as he offered an “unfiltered” view of the ongoing crisis.
Musk — owner of X, formerly Twitter — was accompanied by Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) during his visit to Eagle Pass, a city that declared a state of emergency last week over the unprecedented arrival of thousands of immigrants.
Wearing a cowboy hat and aviator sunglasses, Musk broadcast the observation live and told Gonzales that while he is “very pro-immigrant,” he does not believe people should be allowed to enter the US if they are “breaking the law.”
“To be clear, we are both very much in favor of expanded legal immigration. I think anyone who works hard and is honest and is really going to add … to the economy, we should let them in,” Musk said.
“But what we’re seeing here is in some cases some individuals who are quite extreme coming through … obviously not suggesting that everyone is like this.”

Musk then mentioned how he heard a man jumped the border with facial tattoos, including teardrops, which he said “mean they’ve killed someone and they’re so proud of having killed someone that they tattoo – one tear on their face for every person they kill .”
“That’s right,” Gonzales — whose district covers hundreds of miles along the border — replied when Musk asked if that was true.
The flow of people coming to this country is so great that Musk said it is “resulting in a collapse of social services where the largest city in America, New York, is straining under the pressure of how many illegal immigrants are going to New York.”

“If New York can’t handle it, well, almost no part of the country can,” Musk continued. “So if we don’t do something soon, we’re just going to have, as I said, a collapse in social services like we’re already seeing in New York.”
More than 100,000 immigrants have reached NYC since last year, straining the city’s services and finances.
About 11,000 migrants crossed into the US from Mexico from Sunday to Monday alone, “the highest day in recent memory,” Fox News reported. About 4,000 crossed at Eagle Pass, including some who crawled through the razor wire and forded the Rio Grande.
Statistics published by The Post show that 1.23 million immigrants have crossed the southern border to seek asylum in the past 11 months, according to data analyzed by the nonprofit Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse.

Musk, a South African resident who says he is an immigrant, also spoke with law enforcement during the tour about the border, though he ran into trouble at one point while filming the scene.
One of Musk’s videos appeared to be cut off due to technical issues after he wondered if he was still streaming live on the social network.
“I’m a little worried that this might – a lot of people might keep going until it crashes. It might not work anymore, let’s see,” Musk said moments before the screen went dark.
When he returned, he said the cell connection was not good.
“It would be useful to have some Starlinks, maybe,” he said, referring to his satellite from Space X that developed broadband internet.
