My home town belongs to the ‘Doaba’ region of Punjab and this is the reason why people living here are known as ‘Doabi.’ Where I come from, people of different religions and castes live in different societies in the city.
The city is densely populated. There are a lot of people who live here. My native place is surrounded by many villages. Jalandhar itself is a district, where there are many towns and villages. Moreover, many people migrate from different parts of the country for different reasons. As a result, population density increases rapidly every year.

In my native place, the majority of the population consists of Hindus and Sikhs, but at the same time, people of other castes and sub-castes still live. People follow different religions such as Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, etc.
As Jalandhar is a city in Punjab, most of its population is Punjabi. Unity in diversity I practice honestly because the individual is not broken into different fragments with varying dignity.
It is the 3rd most populous city in Punjab and the largest city in the Doaba region. It is located along the Grand Trunk Road. The best thing is that it has well-connected road and rail junctions. It is located 146 km northeast of Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab, and 82.5 km southeast of Amritsar.

The history of my native place, Jalandhar consists of 3 eras such as ancient times, medieval times and modern times. My native place is probably named after Jalandhara, a demon king, whose name is mentioned in Puranas and Mahabharata. According to the Vedas, this city was founded by Devasya Verma.
There are other possibilities too, which illustrate the history of Jalandhar. It was the capital of the Lava kingdom, which was the son of Lord Rama. Its name may be derived from the vernacular term Jalandhar, which means an area in water that is a channel, located between the 2 rivers Sutlej and Beas.

My native place has been selected in the 2nd phase of the smart city project. To start the project, 200 crores have been allocated to the Municipal Corporation. The economy of my hometown is growing every day.
There are many opportunities to export goods. The city exports goods such as glass and furniture to neighboring cities. My hometown is famous for sports equipment, there is a big sports market in the city.
There are various types of sports industry in this city. Various types of sports equipment and goods are manufactured in Jalandhar, which have been used in many international sports games like Commonwealth Games, Olympics, Asian Games and many more.
It is also a center for making hand tools. There is an industry of leather, leather goods, leather for shoes and furniture found in my native place.
There are different religious places in my home town, namely Nakodar Darbar Baba Murad Shah Ji, Shri Devi Talab Mandir, Cantonment Church, Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, and many more. In fact, there are also leisure places in my city like Niku Park, Wonder Land, Smmash, Prithvi’s Planet, etc.
My native place has all the facilities and amenities that one needs to live a comfortable life. People who live here are highly educated and work in a variety of jobs belonging to different sectors. Some people are engineers, doctors, professors, and some run businesses. People have been enjoying my hometown for a long time.
I really like where I come from. I love living in this city. But there are some problems that arise in my city such as pollution. Due to overpopulation, industrialization and urbanization, my city is getting more and more polluted.
If I get a chance to change something in my native place, I would like to implement some solutions and measures to overcome the problem of pollution. The government should set new rules and standards to reduce pollution levels.
Overall, my home town has everything, which a common person needs to live. I really like it and feel blessed to be a resident of this city.
