Napoleon Bonaparte Biography, Wikipedia, History, Death, Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in Corsica which was occupied by France at the time. His father was Carlo Maria did Bonaparte and his mother’s name was Maria Letizia Ramolino. Napoleon Bonaparte’s father was a dedicated supporter of Corsican resistance leader Pasquale Paoli.

At that time when Paoli moved to Corsica Carlo shifted his allegiance to the French side and then he had the opportunity to enroll both his sons Napoleon Bonaparte and Joseph to the French College d’Autun.

After spending a few years at college Napoleon Bonaparte was admitted to the College of Brienne where he spent five years at the military college and then moved on to the military academy of Paris. In 1785 Napoleon Bonaparte’s father died after which he moved back to Corsica to take care of his family. Napoleon graduated from the Paris military academy and became an artillery officer and then he returned to his hometown of Corsica in 1786.

Napoleon Bonaparte followed his father and gave his support to Paoli where he led the nationalists in the civil war. Paoli and Napoleon Bonaparte had many differences and this is why napoleon withdrew his support and moved to France with his family where he chose the French version of their name Bonaparte.

He then joined the military unit in 1793 and gave his support to the Jacobin which was a popular and progressive party after the French revolution. The Jacobins were in dictatorial power for a while.

He asked that his son be named emperor but his request was rejected. After the second resignation, he was sent into exile and sent to St. Helena.

He sinks into boredom and cuts himself off from the world. He contracted cancer in his stomach in 1817 after which his health declined severely. By the spring of 1821 he was completely bedridden and wrote his will “I wish my ashes to rest on the banks of the Seine, in the midst of the French people whom I love so much. I died before my time, killed by English oligarchs and assassins.” The once proud emperor died on May 5, 1821.
