Actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo brings Sabine Wren to life in the new Disney+ series “Ahsoka.”
Sabine Wren first appeared in the animated series “Star Wars: Rebels” and will join Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) on her adventures in a galaxy far, far away.
The Australian actress recently spoke to Empire Magazine as part of their 20-page Star Wars spread for the magazine’s Summer 2023 issue and opened up about the lightsaber training she had to undergo for the role.

Collider reviewed Natasha’s interview with Empire Magazine, which focused on Sabine’s Mandalorian heritage and the lightsaber training required for her new role.
“I’m very happy to be out there. It’s hard to talk about my fight training without talking about the fact that it’s sword training, which is really all I’ve been doing,” he explained. “The Mandalorians [physicality] is very Western, and then ‘sword styles are heavily influenced by the samurai. Trying to embody those two things – sometimes one after the other – in choreography is very interesting because it’s a different way. I’m really enjoying the journey of trying to master both.”
While fans wondered whose lightsaber Sabine used in her fight against Ivanna Sakhno’s character Shin Hati, Natasha played coy asking, “What can I tease?” He went on to say, “It’s just part of the journey. Not just the sword itself, but what comes with it, and what it means, and what mindset it takes to wield that weapon.”
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nastaha revealed that her audition was a “very, very quick process” despite the fact that she doesn’t have many acting credits to her name. Bordizzo first made his debut in the 2016 Netflix film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny.” He was later featured in Netflix’s “The Society” in 2019, but the series was canceled after its first season.
Natasha revealed that she sent in a tape of herself for the role and was quickly cast. At that time, he did not know that he was auditioning for the “Star Wars” project. “I suspect!” he confessed. “I was like, ‘Wait, I have an offer for this?’ I meet [showrunner] Jon Favreau then, and he was basically like, ‘I get it. “What I love is the little things that we’ve been able to imagine in these other shows, we’ve been able to explore more,” Dawson told Entertainment Weekly. “I think whether you’ve seen the animation before or just seen this episode, he’s still a bit of a mystery at this stage and point in his life.
