Neil Patrick Harris Faces Backlash For ‘Creepy’ Past Comments About Crushing On A Young Nick Jonas

Hollywood star Neil Patrick Harris is getting dragged online for remarks he made about Nick Jonas last year.

“The Matrix Resurrections” actress appeared on a 2015 episode of “The Wendy Williams Show” and admitted that Jonas was her favorite celebrity to host Wendy Williams. Since the comments resurfaced on social media earlier this week, fans have slammed the actor, referring to the age gap between the couple.

Meanwhile, Harris has starred in several projects, including Netflix’s “Uncoupled” and the action comedy “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” The actor is also slated to appear as a villain in “Doctor Who.”

According to Position, Harris has come under fire for an ex’s statement about a young Nick Jonas that appears to be incorrect. This response comes after the comments somehow resurfaced on social media on Tuesday.

In 2015, Harris, 49, appeared on an episode of “The Wendy Williams Show” and admitted that she had a crush on the now 30-year-old singer.

While making such a comment is usually taken as a compliment, the fact that the romance seems to have started when Jonas was a teenager makes the statement by the “How I Met Your Mother” star seem a little off.

In a clip of the segment, Harris admits that it may not be appropriate to discuss such feelings because of their age gap, describing Jonas as “very good-looking before it was allowed to consider him good-looking.”

However, he seemed to wonder why it was inappropriate to crush someone so young.

Harris told Williams, “[This] is a little bit of a problem, you kind of have to wait until he turns into, you know… 19, 20. You’re like, ‘What’s going on?’”

The actress, who is already married to David Burtka, said in an interview that since her husband was aware of her feelings for the singer, she felt comfortable discussing it on live television.

“David knows that, so I don’t think it’s a bad thing to say,” Harris admitted each Position.

When the interview was filmed, Nick, who rose to fame at age 12 as a Disney child star and as one third of the Jonas Brothers, was 23.

Many people have disputed Harris’ words since they resurfaced on social media. Some fans blasted Neil for making “totally inappropriate” and “problematic” remarks, while others slammed the audience for laughing.

One fan wrote, “It’s weird because I really love this guy- but every day another problematic issue is surprising but not surprising.” Another wrote, “There’s a way to compliment younger people’s looks without sounding creepy.”

Another section of fans disputed whether the actor made a mistake in making such a statement.

One follower commented, “This is weird but since it’s weird he said until he hit 19/20 I’ll give him a pass”

Another fan wrote, “yes, it’s outrageous for adults to express attraction to minors, looking for an ephebophile.”

Harris has yet to issue any response to the criticism he received following the resurfaced comments. Meanwhile, she recently appeared in the Netflix series written by Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman “Uncoupled.”

In the show, Harris portrays a New York City real estate agent who has just been dumped by his partner and is now navigating the modern dating scene for the first time in nearly two decades.

Harris also played a supporting role in the action comedy “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” which starred Nicholas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself.

Earlier in June, Doctor Who actor Russell T Davies also announced that the actor would be joining the cast of the science fiction TV show as a villain.

“Neil Patrick Harris, welcome to Cardiff! Playing the greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced,” Russell wrote on Instagram.
