NeNe Leakes paid tribute to her late husband Gregg Leakes on his birthday, nearly two years after his death.
Gregg died of colon cancer on September 1, 2021, at the age of 66, after battling the condition on and off for years since his diagnosis in 2018. In honor of the late reality star’s special day, NeNe visited his resting place and shared a touching message recalling how he spent his birthday when he was alive.

The 55-year-old widow commemorated her late husband with a beautiful Instagram post featuring two pictures and a heartfelt message. One of the photos uploaded showed Gregg sitting at a table at an event, while in the next, NeNe was captured leaning in to kiss him.

Celebrating her husband’s posthumous birthday, she wrote in the caption, “Happy Birthday in Heaven, Gregg! Today you will go out to eat your favorite food! French Fries and chicken tenders ? –I love you for that.”
The “DWTS” alum added, “It’s the simple things about you that get me every time! I love you and miss you more than words! –My Man My Man Mannn❤️.” Fans were blown away by the candid update as they responded in the comments section with congratulations for Gregg, who is well-loved.

After paying tribute to Gregg on her feed, NeNe took to his story to reveal how she spent the deceased’s birthday by visiting his grave. He dropped two photos, with the first showing him touching Gregg’s headstone, while in the second, he captures the grave, highlighting the words on it.
“Forever in our hearts” is written on a black plate with a gold rim, along with the deceased’s full name, “Gregory Leon Leakes,” and his time on earth, “August 16, 1954 – September 1, 2021.”
NeNe has taken small steps to move on from the loss of her husband, and she opened up in an interview last year, touching on accepting her husband’s passing. At the time, he was seeing someone but attributed most of his happiness to his mind.
“I can’t say he didn’t help me put a smile on my face… You have to be ready to be happy, and you have to make a lot of changes in yourself.”
In 2021, the Broadway star also revealed on Instagram that while grieving, she has good and bad days, but she has the most supportive people who help calm her down. “I got on with it,” he added. “I have good days and bad days. They said it was normal. So, some days I woke up. Some days I’m down. Today I feel like going to the salon. So that’s good.”

In December 2021, a few months after Gregg’s death, NeNe officially confirmed her then-new relationship, revealing that she was dating menswear designer Nyonisela Sioh. “We’re dating! We’re friends,” she revealed, leaving fans wondering if it was too soon for her to move on from Gregg.
However, the “RHOA” star assured them that her late partner gave her the blessing to do so because he wanted her to be “happy” and “keep smiling.”
Unfortunately, NeNe and Sioh’s recent romance has ended, as confirmed in part one of the “Reality with the King” podcast interview last month.
