A New Jersey man intentionally drove his SUV into a home and the township’s police department office last week, authorities announced Friday.
No one was injured in the crashes, both of which occurred on Sept. 20, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.
However, at least one officer escaped being hit when John Hargreaves, 34, of Belvidere, drove into Independence Township police headquarters, causing significant damage.
Hargreaves’ vehicle stopped at the department’s squad room.
As he got out of the vehicle, prosecutors said Hargreaves put his hands in the air and appeared to celebrate, playing Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” loudly on his car stereo as officers arrested him.

The crash happened just minutes after Hargreaves drove into the garage door of a home in Liberty Township, prosecutors said in a statement intended to harass the home’s owner, whom Hargreaves knew.
He then drove to the Independence police station because it was the closest to the house, prosecutors said.
Hargreaves was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and weapons counts in both crashes. He also faces charges of terrorism, aggravated assault and causing extensive injury or damage stemming from the police station crash.
Authorities have not released a possible motive for the crash. They said Hargreaves remained jailed Friday.
The district attorney said they did not know if Hargreaves had retained an attorney.
The Associated Press left a voicemail seeking comment with an attorney who has represented him in previous cases.
A phone number for Hargreaves could not be found.
