NH man seeks to block gun convictions from trial for 5-year-old daughter’s murder

Adam Montgomery went on trial in February on charges that he killed his 5-year-old daughter and that he tried to prevent his six felony weapons convictions from being brought into court.

The 33-year-old New Hampshire man faces second-degree murder charges in the 2019 death of his daughter Harmony, along with charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and witness tampering, the Union Leader reported.

Montgomery denies killing Harmony.

He said in court that he loved her unconditionally, shortly before he was sentenced in August to 30 years on weapons charges.

Montgomery’s public defender filed a motion last week to suppress evidence of “assault or offensive conduct” against Harmony, other than conduct on or about Dec. 7, 2019, that his estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, alleges caused Harmony’s death.

Prosecutors allege he beat Harmony to death in a fit of rage after she had a “bathroom accident”, and hid her battered body for nearly two years before she was finally reported missing in November 2021.

The girl’s body has never been found despite a massive search since last April.

Kayla Montgomery told police her estranged husband repeatedly punched the girl in the face after she soiled the family’s car.
