Nia Long’s ex-fiancé, Ime Udoka is back in the sports industry with a new show following her infamous cheating scandal.
Almost a year ago, the estranged couple called off their engagement after Udoka was accused of having an affair with a female colleague as coach of the Boston Celtics.
Despite the alleged affair that got him suspended from the organization for the 2022-23 season, he has now been offered a coaching position with the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

According to a Twitter update from ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, Long’s former partner has a new job with a new team, unsurprisingly causing Twitter users to voice their opinions on the development.
“ESPN Source: Ime Udoka has agreed to a deal to become the next coach of the Houston Rockets,” Wojnarowski wrote, adding a photo of the former basketball player with a cross-label spelling out “Breaking news” and the reporter’s name.
Wojnarowski commented on the news, pointing to the Udoka cheating scandal before users stormed in with the statement. Explaining how the Rockets feel about the scandal attached to their new coach, the sports reporter wrote,
“The Rockets are investigating the circumstances surrounding Udoka’s Celtics departure with the team and the league office, sources said. Udoka – who led the Celtics to the 2022 NBA Finals in his only season as head coach – was fired after finding the workplace relationship inappropriate.”
“WOWWWW,” one shocked commenter wrote, and another stated, “I wonder if he snuck into the Rockets for a discreet meeting.” One user believed that Rockets star James Harden would not be a fan of working with the new coach but later acknowledged the team’s “great hire.”
Several other commenters were candid with their opinions, including one who said, “Keep your wife at home,” while another wrote, “Women in Houston lock your doors.” PER PERSON, Udoka is poised to replace Stephen Silas, whose overall record as Rockets head coach was 59-177 over the past three seasons.
The new position will be his first after he violated Boston Celtics team policy multiple times, most notably with his involvement with a female subordinate who was disciplined.

Team majority owner Wyc Grousbeck declared that no one other than the former Celtics coach faces a penalty, adding that the team will be vigilant to “make sure Udoka’s actions are not a preview of bigger problems.”
Keep in mind that the Rockets finished 14th in the western conference with a 22-60 record, while Udoka led the Celtics to an NBA Finals appearance during his first year as an NBA head coach. Additionally, the Celtics promoted Joe Mazzulla to interim head coach and eventually removed the interim tag, making Mazzulla the permanent coach this season.
As you know, news of the 45-year-old coach’s cheating broke in September 2022, and he faced a backlash on social media for “groping” the “Fatal Affair” actor.
Shortly after news of Udoka’s infidelity broke, PEOPLE revealed that she and Long had ended their 13-year relationship. A source said that while the situation is “unfortunate and painful,” the actor is focused on his work and “rebuilding his life.”
Also, a representative for Long confirmed that the two, who share a child, Kez, “are no longer together but remain” fully committed to raising their son.” Their split came after the Boston Celtics addressed Udoka’s suspension via a press conference in September.
Such publicity troubled Long as he told The Hollywood Reporter about how “heartbreaking” it was to see his son’s face when the team made “a very personal situation public.” Meanwhile, his ex later expressed ESPN’s Malika Andrews, apologizing to his players, fans, family, and the Celtics for letting them down and putting them in a “difficult situation.”
