A few days ago, Nick Cannon tweeted something that makes people shake their heads in disbelief – “EXPECT big news tomorrow…” followed by eyes and a baby bottle emoji.
We ALL expected her to announce baby #13, didn’t we? But when he announced the birth of a new television show, we all collectively breathed a sigh of relief…until we saw the clip of the “new show.”
Now let me explain why I’m so fired up about this new game show possibility.
Let’s Talk About Why I’m So Upset About “Who’s Pregnant With My Child?”
MEGA
So why all the emotion about someone I don’t know personally? The first thought that crossed my mind – how could anyone think this was a good idea? How can someone with 12 children think that having a 13th child with a stranger is logical, healthy or normal in any way? That’s when I started to get angry. Is this my business? No, it doesn’t affect me directly.
But, and that is a big but, as a mother with little experience with divorce and childhood trauma, it is an outrageous thought to me that anyone would want to bring a child into the world without a foundation, some level of normalcy. Life is hard enough even with that, but without, oh boy. With so many adults trying to recover from their childhood, and it being such a common theme that so many are talking about openly now, it makes me think how terrible this situation is. And I know I’m not alone in that thought process because the comments section of the clip was like a fire of anger and disbelief.
Having a 13th child with a stranger brought up some deep emotions for me. I’m sure many of you are thinking the same way I am – you have a baby mama you know, love and take good care of your children, so why not have another baby with one of them them if you really want another child? And that’s where a lot of the anger comes to me. I am angry at the mother of his children who has been in a relationship with him, and is doing a great job with their children.
And then there is the topic of why many children? We are all given only 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week, so how can one have enough time for 12 children, and a career that allows you to keep running? These are all things that come to mind when I hear about “Who’s Having My Baby?” and i know i’m not alone.
Nick Cannon’s New “Show” Is Causing Much Rage!
Instagram | Nick Cannon
When we saw what this newly announced “show” meant, people really started to lose their minds, just like me. Saw a clip on Instagram of a game show called, “Who’s Having My Baby?” where Cannon will choose a baby mama to her 13th child, causing more fire than not. The thought of choosing a stranger on a game show to share a child with for the rest of your life just doesn’t seem right. Like, who did that? Well, Cannon made us believe he would.
“Kevin Hart and Nick Cannon are coming to E! for the mother of all game shows,” the announcer said in a clip shared by Cannon on Instagram. “You’re going to get some contestants who want to deliver your baby,” Hart says. Then the announcer said, “We’re not kidding.”
Cue the rage right about NOW!
“I don’t know if this is a joke or serious, but regardless it’s annoying. I don’t think it’s funny at all. Women are not commodities to be peddled on game shows. What struck me was the hypocrisy and double standard surrounding how people reacted to Nick Cannon versus how they would have reacted. If we are talking about a woman who has 12 children with five different men,” wrote one.
Another commented, “Too deaf? In a time when women’s bodies are abused and we don’t get to choose what happens to our own bodies, let alone the millions of people who are trying to have babies and can’t. This is pretty gross. I hope this plan is not true.”

And another follower of Cannon’s Instagram page wrote, “I really hope this is a joke. Babies are people, not the prize (or punishment) of winning a game show. If children are born from this, I hope they grow up to sue the people responsible for this plan.”
A lot of the comments sound like Cannon was really surprised, or a lot. One follower pointed out, “This is so disrespectful to all mothers and the mothers of your children. This is a shame.”
And the anger wasn’t contained only to his Instagram posts. Wherever these plans are announced, there is great opinion that follows.
Then It Was Announced That We Were All Being Played…
And after all the emotion and confusion about what this show was all about, the truth came out a day later about the actual show, “Celebrity Prank Wars.”
A new Instagram post is captioned, “Gotcha!!!! ‘Who’s Carrying My Baby?’ It’s all a joke y’all, but #CelebrityPrankWars is our real show! ? Tap premieres April 6 on @eentertainment! @kevinhart4real,” explaining that Cannon and Hart thought they were being funny with their fake announcement. To many people, they were funny, and this time, the comments had a different atmosphere.
“The first order is that we like it ?,” wrote one follower. Another added, “?scared me for a second ?.”
I’ll be the first to admit it – you got me! You have a LOT of other people too. Job well done? Yes, I would say so. And because you evoke so much emotion to play with the world, it’s safe to say that there is a large audience watching the new show. But if there’s anything to take home here for Cannon, it’s not to disrespect women or think babies can be used as pawns in any game you play, or you’ll lose fans.
