Video reveals ‘biggest Hamas tunnel’ yet discovered — and includes eerie footage of terrorists building it

A new video reveals the “biggest Hamas tunnel” found by Israel – and includes terrifying footage of the Palestinian terrorists who built it.

Construction of the massive 2.5-mile labyrinth was overseen by Mohammad Sinwar, the brother of October 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar, Israeli officials said Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces said the newly discovered large tunnel under Gaza is wide enough to allow vehicles and heavy equipment to pass through and is equipped in parts with railway tracks, electricity and ventilation systems.

“EXPOSED: Largest Hamas terror tunnel discovered,” IDF said in a tweet that posted the footage.

“This huge tunnel system branches out and stretches over four kilometers (2.5 miles). The entrance is located just 400 meters (1,310 feet) from the Erez Crossing—which Gazans use every day to enter Israel for work and medical treatment in Israeli hospitals,” the Israeli military wrote.

“This tunnel system is a project led by Mohammad Sinwar, the brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and the commander of the Khan Yunis Hamas Battalion,” he added.

Other footage included in the post was said to have been taken from Hamas “last week” showing terrorists going through and maintaining a large tunnel corridor, according to the IDF.

The video shows dozens of Hamas members building the passage on an undisclosed date, with several cuts to different corridors connected to the tunnel.

One such passage leads to a broken door, and when the terrorists break through it, they are met with a destroyed room.

Footage seized from Hamas shows the construction of a 2.5-mile tunnel system near the Israel-Gaza border. IDF The system is large enough to allow vehicles to pass through it. IDF

Another clip shows Hamas members locked in a cell in a tunnel, and a separate cut reveals a staircase leading to a separate exit inside Gaza.

The clip also offers a rare look at Hamas members using drills to dig underground, extending the tunnel system and adding shafts for plumbing and electrical work.

The IDF claimed that the large tunnel was a project led by Sinwar’s brother, Mohammad Sinway, who also served as the commander of Hamas’s Khan Younis battalion.

The location of the tunnel is a concern given its proximity to the Erez Crossing.

Since the war began, Israel says it has discovered more than 800 tunnel corridors across Gaza, all entrances to an estimated 300-mile underground system run by Hamas.

More than 500 of the corridors have been destroyed, with the Jewish state now pumping seawater into the tunnels to destroy the “Gaza metro,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

The tunnel is equipped with electricity and large machinery. IDF The entrance is located near the Erez Junction, on Israel’s border with northern Gaza. IDF

While that tactic could see the tunnel system flooded and inoperable, serving as a major leverage for Hamas, it carries its own risks, as most of the hostages are believed to be held underground.

Environmental experts have also warned that such a strategy would have long-lasting effects on groundwater throughout the Gaza Strip.

The pumping is in its early stages, and its effectiveness is still being studied, the Journal reported, adding that other tactics include airstrikes, liquid explosives and sending dogs, drones and robots into the tunnels.
