Almost a year after losing his brother, Nick Carter, 43, has spoken out about the tragic loss, admitting he is “still processing” everything.
“I’m still processing it all,” the Backstreet Boys member told E! News. “And sometimes you push it away because you don’t want to think about it.”
According to our previous article, Aaron’s toxicology tests showed “difluoroethane” in his system, which is commonly found in aerosol cans and compressed air cans. “Difluoroethane is a gas commonly used as a propellant in air cleaner sprays for electronic devices that can cause feelings of euphoria when inhaled. It is known to have cardiotoxic effects that can cause cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac arrest,” the toxicology report said.
A common benzodiazepine – Xanax – was also found in his system at the time of death.
Nick Carter broke down in tears in an interview with the outlet, before stating, “And then it came out, like this. I hope one day I can understand it all.”
Nick Carter Recalls His Good Times With Aaron Carter

The Backstreet Boy member later reminisced about the “good times” he had with his little brother, adding that this year’s holiday season won’t be the same.
“When I think back and I get to these holidays, like Halloween, these are like moments and milestones and times when I really shared those memories with my brother,” the 43-year-old explained. “Even though I share it with my kids and my family now, there are times when I’m sitting by myself or if I’m in the car and I say to myself, ‘This is unbelievable’.”
Aaron’s toxicology report indicated that “based on the autopsy findings, investigative report, and circumstances, as currently known, Mr. Carter became incapacitated while in the bathtub as a result of inhaling compressed gas and taking alprazolam.”
“This resulted in her sinking under the water, unable to breathe, and ultimately leading to her death,” the report continued. “The cause of death was drowning due to the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam. The manner of death is an accident.”
