Former “Bachelor” host Nick Viall called out current “Bachelor” host Zach Shallcross for his treatment of women during the last two episodes of the ABC reality show.
After seeing how Shallcross dealt with Jess Girod’s concerns about not getting a one-on-one date and seeing how his conversation with Greer Blitzer went down over Zoom, Viall didn’t mince words and tell it how it is, even calling Shallcross a “total d*ck”.

During Monday’s episode of “The Bachelor,” one of the contestants, Jess Girod, 23, struggled after realizing she was the only one left who didn’t get a one-on-one date (besides Greer Blitzer who was in COVID quarantine last week, meaning she couldn’t accept one-on-one dates).
During the group date, Girod approaches Shallcross to express his concerns and how he feels invisible and how he’s losing confidence in himself, to which Shallcross tries to listen, even saying he’s confident in their relationship. However, after Girod brought up another one-on-one, he seemed to reverse the decision, quickly saying he was no longer confident in what they had, and eventually sent him home.
After seeing the situation deteriorate, Nick Viall spoke out on Twitter, calling out the show’s boss for how he handled the situation. “Zach is acting like a guy who’s mad at his girlfriend for not telling him she wants confirmation on his birthday #thebachelor,” he said tweeted.

The former “Bachelor” host also brought up the controversial conversation between Shallcross and another contestant, Greer Blitzer, that happened the previous week.
“That’s 2 weeks in a row now that Zach has been really mean to one of the women. It’s really all about one on one. Zach knows that. He makes Jess feel like she’s screwed for expressing a legitimate concern. #thebachelor,” he tweeted.
A week before Girod’s situation, the 26-year-old captain had to hold a virtual cocktail party because he tested positive for COVID-19. During Zoom’s cocktail party, Greer Blizter had a chance to speak with him, beginning their conversation by asking how Shallcross was feeling. He then tried to explain how he could relate to his situation when he admitted to contracting COVID-19 at the end of the sales quarter, causing him to fall behind and lose something.
“I had COVID at the end of the quarter during the end of the year, so it messed up my career in sales,” Blitzer, who works as a medical sales rep, told Shallcross during their one-on-one. “I know how it feels to lose something.”
Shallcross didn’t hold back after hearing Blitzer say this, responding with “I think my loss of finding a wife is more important than your little sales problem.”

After the episode aired, Shallcross spoke up, addressing the conversation with Blitzer. “Looking back on it, I really empathized with him,” Shallcross told me Diversity. “I think he was really just trying to reach out and connect with me when I had the Covid, and actually I was upset with everything, you know, that happened. You know, I could have definitely expressed my sentiments in a more respectful way, in a calmer way.”
He continued to take full responsibility, explaining, “It was just one of those conversations that was turned off. No excuses, I should have reacted better, so I really, absolutely, 100 percent get where he’s coming from.”
Shallcross has yet to speak about the situation with Jess Girod. “The Bachelor” continues Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu.
