Nick Viall seems to have responded to Nick Thompson.
Thompson and his ex, Danielle Ruhl, have spoken out on social media following the release of the latest episode of “The Viall Files.”
The former couple are using their post-reality TV platform to advocate for mental health awareness. Ruhl, in particular, has publicly shared many of the personal mental health struggles she experienced while filming the second season of the Netflix dating show.
Among the causes Thompson has drawn public attention to include Seasonal Affective Disorder; The 37-year-old took to his Instagram last winter to offer tips on navigating the disorder. Thompson also refers to herself as a “mental health & wellness advocate” in her Instagram bio. (per The Blast)
On Friday, Thompson posted a TikTok, revealing to her followers that Viall had previously responded to her TikTok in which she called Viall out for allegedly insensitive comments about Thompson’s intelligence and shared her beliefs about appropriate mental health resources aimed at reality TV cast members. .
Ruhl followed up the next day with an Instagram story slide, sharing more of his perspective.
Former ‘Love Is Blind’ Couple Calls Out Viall For Insensitive Comments On ‘The Viall Files’ Podcast
Thompson and Ruhl’s social media content was posted shortly after several members of the “Love Is Blind” cast alleged abuse on set in a story for “Business Insider.”
Former participants claimed they had been “deprived” of “food and sleep” and were reported to have exploited their vulnerability; the report explicitly mentions the concern. Thompson revealed in a social media post that he had lost 15 pounds due to “food and water restrictions.” Ruhl also recorded his response to the article.
Her Instagram post also mentions she has started a non-profit organization with fellow contestant Jeremy Hartwell; The UCAN Foundation provides mental health support to individuals who have participated in reality TV at any time; Thompson also revealed that there were no mental health resources available during the filming of “Love Is Blind.”
Production company Kinetic Content denied the claims made in the “Business Insider” article; Kinetic Content claims the company has “strict protocols” for the well-being of participants during all stages of filming in a statement. (each Variety)
Thompson explained in his initial TikTok how he believed Viall’s comments in response to Thompson and Hartwell’s work had been incorporated into UCAN and the nonprofit’s cause.
Thompson’s interview clip features the former ‘Bachelor’ host commenting on the ability of “poor reality stars” to monetize their Instagram accounts. He also chided Viall for using “personal insults” in making his point.
Ruhl Calls Out Viall For Allegedly ‘Noticing’ Previous Suicide Attempts
Ruhl posted an Instagram video sharing her thoughts on Viall’s comments. In the caption of her video, the 29-year-old told her followers she had contacted Viall before, informing him of her intention to post the video; he received no answer.
Ruhl highlighted one of Viall’s “many” comments: “You’re so hungry and going to your favorite restaurant to order [you’re] favorite dinner, and they don’t have it. Are you going to kill yourself?”
She later wrote, “Not everyone understands how triggering it is. But those who do shouldn’t go into the mental health field…”; she also mentioned Viall’s desire to become a therapist.
“Speak s**t al.” [sic] you want to,” Ruhl continued, “but DON’T belittle a sensitive subject that you have no right to…” Ruhl then pointed to several reality TV contestants who died by suicide.
Viall Responds To Thompson, While Ruhl Continues To Share His Thoughts
Thompson later posted on TikTok revealing Viall had responded to her; Thompson showed a screenshot showing how Viall had removed Thompson’s ability to mention him on social media. Viall’s Instagram icon is obscured.
“…But now, with the heat and the realization that his intake is out of touch and insensitive, he doesn’t want to face the music anymore,” Thompson said on TikTok.

Ruhl took to his Instagram story on Saturday to continue sharing his perspective.
In addition to reiterating her attempts to reach Viall, she wrote, “His whole platform is talking shit, yet he turns off his comments and mentions when people defend themselves.”

The “Love Is Blind” star continued, “The whole episode is trashing someone about how this experience has put them in a dark place. Is the goal to make them feel worse? After knowing people personally that didn’t work out. Idfc if that’s my ex or not- Nick and I have our backs on this matter.”
He ended his post by writing, “He needs to get this slam part down.”
