The “Renfield” actor, known for his unique personality and unique outlook on life, recently revealed some shocking details about his past, including memories of being in the womb and how he always sees faces in the dark.

During his appearance on an episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Cage, 59, claimed that he has vivid memories of his time in his mother’s womb, including his brain activity at that age.

The actor answered the host’s questions about fond memories he has of his early days.

“Let me think,” he began, per Insider. “Listen, I know this sounds far-fetched, and I don’t know if it’s true, but sometimes I think I can go back into the womb and feel like I can see faces in the dark or something.”

Cage also discusses where he believes the faces in the dark come from, which he likens to a form of pareidolia. Colbert asks if the faces were with him in the womb, to which he points out that his baby’s brain uses external sounds and attaches an identity to them.

“Now that I’m no longer in the womb, I have to imagine it might have been the vocal vibrations that resonated with me at that stage. That will come back. I do not know. That’s what comes to mind,” said the “National Treasure” actor.

He later jokingly shared that he vaguely remembered “in the womb” but had previously entertained the thought. Cage is also driven to share what he thinks happens to people when they die.

He said, “Oh, wow. Nobody knows; I don’t know. They say that electricity lasts forever. That the spark goes on. I like to think that whatever spark animates our body, once that body is gone, the spark keep going. But who can really say whether the electricity has consciousness or not?”

The “Face/Off” actor’s revelation stunned “Renfield” co-star Nicholas Hoult, who exclaimed, “No, no!”

“Oh yeah, I do. And that, you know, it’s part of the job,” Cage said, adding, “I think maybe they think I’m going to send them in something. Who knows?”
