Actor Nicolas Cage has no plans to join a galaxy far, far away.
After starring alongside “The Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal in the 2022 comedy “The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent,” many “Star Wars” fans are hoping that the two will finally star together on screen. Unfortunately, the “National Treasure” star said he’s “not really upset” about appearing in the Lucasfilm franchise.
Nicolas Cage Takes Sides Between ‘Star Trek’ And ‘Star Wars’

The “Pig” actor promoted his new Western, “The Old Way,” in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment last week. “Game of Thrones” alum Pedro Pascal previously told the outlet that he hopes to drag Cage into the “Star Wars” universe when the two collaborate on “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.”
However, it looks like Cage passed up the chance to swing a lightsaber, telling Pascal that he’s “not really down” to join the franchise. During his interview, the “Willy’s Wonderland” actor told the outlet that he’s a “Trekkie, man,” adding, “I’m on Star Trek Enterprise. That’s where I roll.”

The “A Score To Settle” actor admitted that he had been a childhood Trekkie and kept watching the latest movies in theaters. “I’m not in the Star Wars family. I’m in the Star Trek family,” Cage said, adding, “I grew up watching Shatner.”
“I thought Pine was great in the movie. I thought the movie was amazing. I love politics and sociology [messages],” he continued. “To me, what science fiction really is and why it’s such an important genre is that you can say whatever you want, however you feel.”

“You put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time or in the future, and without people just jumping all over you, you can really express your thoughts like Orwell or anybody in a science fiction format,” he added. “And Star Trek really embraced that.”
Simon Pegg Prefers ‘Star Trek’ Fans Over ‘Star Wars’

It seems Nicolas Cage isn’t alone in choosing “Star Trek” over “Star Wars.” Actor Simon Pegg, who has appeared in both, made an appearance on the SiriusXM radio show “Jim and Sam” last summer (via Mediaite). During the interview, Pegg was asked what franchise has “the hardest fans to please.” Pegg immediately replied, “Star Wars.”
“Honestly — and as someone who was, you know, starting about the prequels when they came out, the ‘Star Wars’ fanbase seems to be the most toxic right now,” Pegg said. “I might be very controversial to say that.”
The “Hot Fuzz” actor admitted that he was once a “toxic” fan and apologized to Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best for his earlier comments in a previous interview. “I’ve apologized for the things I said, you know, Jar Jar Binks,” Pegg said.
“Because of course there are actors involved. He’s got a lot of flaws and … he’s human,” he added.” And because it got so much hate, he suffered, you know, and I felt really bad to be a part of that.

However, he feels that “Star Trek” has a more “inclusive” fan base. “I find ‘Star Trek’ fans have always been very, very inclusive, you know, ‘Star Trek’ about diversity. It’s been since 1966, it’s always been,” said the “Shaun of the Dead” actor.
“There’s no kind of like, ‘Oh, you’re suddenly awake,'” Pegg added. “There’s no ‘Star Trek’ shock from the beginning, you know? … This is massively progressive. ‘Star Wars’ was suddenly there, there was a little more variety and everyone started it. And it’s, it’s really sad.’”
‘There are over 20 million species living in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be racist’

Pegg was referring to the controversy surrounding Emmy-nominated actor Moses Ingram, who played Reva in the live-action “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series.
After Ingram posted some of the hateful messages he received from Star Wars fans on his Instagram Stories, the official Star Wars Twitter account tweeted, “We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make him feel unwanted in any way, we have only one thing to say: we oppose.”
They added, “There are over 20 million species living in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be racist.”

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” star Ewan McGregor, who reprises his role as the Jedi from the prequel trilogy, also added his own statement in defense of Ingram.
“It just sickens me to hear that this has happened,” he said. “We support Moses, we love Moses, and if you’re sending him bullying messages, you’re not a ‘Star Wars’ fan in my mind.”
