Hollywood star Nicole Kidman surprised theatergoers with an act of charity when she attended the Broadway production of “The Music Man.”
The production stars the actress’ longtime friend, Hugh Jackman, in an iconic role previously portrayed by other theater heavyweights.
During her visit to the show, Kidman bid $100,000 for part of the “Wolverine” star’s costume. The money she donated will go to a non-profit organization called Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Kidman was previously selected as the next recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for her contributions to film and television.

On Saturday, Kidman surprised audiences when she attended the Broadway production of The Music Man. The 55-year-old Hollywood actor made an appearance to support his old friend Jackman who stars in the production.
Jackman portrays the character of Professor Harold Hill, a con man who assumes the guise of a traveling salesman. The role was previously played by Craig Bierko, Van Johnson, and Robert Preston across different productions of the play.
During her appearance in the drama’s revival, Kidman further shocked onlookers when she bid $100,000 to own Jackman’s iconic flat top hat, which she wore for her part.
Footage posted by Jackman on his Instagram page showed Kidman making the bid off-camera, causing viewers to go wild when they found the actress in their midst.
After the offer, Kidman walked on stage to hug Jackman to a standing ovation from the audience, who were clearly impressed.

In his Instagram post, Jackman wrote a sweet tribute to the “Queen of the Desert” star for supporting him.
“The generosity and love that emanates from Nicole leaves me speechless,” Jackman wrote in his post “Thank you Nic for your friendship and support!”
Kidman also responded in the comments section, expressing her love for her friend and praising her generosity.
She wrote, “Darling Hugh, To my friend of 30 years, Back to you a beautiful generous man, it was a brilliant night at the theater and an honor to be able to donate to @bcefa!+ Congratulations to the talented cast. .”
The money Kidman donated will go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The group helps in providing Americans across the country with access to medicine, health care, nutritious food, counseling and emergency financial assistance.

He has become the first Australian in entertainment history to be chosen to receive the highly regarded award.
