Long story.
A Nigerian wig maker has set a new Guinness World Record by creating the longest handmade wig at a towering 1,152 feet, 5 inches — that’s longer than three football fields.
Helen Williams, from Lagos, spent 11 days and the equivalent of $2,493 to create a haircut worthy of Rapunzel.
Williams initially constructed the lower part using a wig cap and black fabric attached to a bicycle helmet, and then completed her weave with 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hairspray, 35 tubes of hair glue and 6,250 hair clips, Guinness World Records said in a Tuesday’s statement.
“Finding materials to make the longest wig is not an easy task,” says Williams. “My experience as a wig maker helps a lot.”
The organization also released a short video showing the wig expert sitting on the floor next to a huge pile of black hair – and then modeling the impressive mane on the running track.

Williams has worked as a professional wig maker for eight years and has produced thousands of wigs in that time at a rate of 50 to 300 haircuts per week.
Despite his extensive experience, Williams admits that it’s not easy to pull off a tasty lock nearly a quarter of a mile long.
“At one point, I felt tired,” he said. “However, friends and family encouraged me. I didn’t want to disappoint them, so I kept my focus. The result is the longest handmade wig in the world.”

The final challenge for Williams was to find a place wide enough to place her record-breaking wig in a straight line and accurately measured.
He finally decided to present his masterpiece on the side of the highway that runs between the cities of Lagos and Abeokuta.
The oversized wig is now safely stored in Williams’ office, where she invites anyone to come and see it “whenever they want.”
To put the wig in a straight line to measure it, Williams had to spread it out on the side of the highway because he couldn’t find a running track long enough for the job. Guinness World Records
Williams said that being a Guinness World Record holder “will take some time… to digest.”
“This achievement is one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” he added. “I still can’t believe it.”
