Nikki Haley was given an inauspicious start to the new year.
On Jan. 1, authorities responded to a false 911 call that directed them to Haley’s Kiawah Island home after a woman claimed the 2024 GOP hopeful had killed her daughter and threatened to kill herself, an incident report revealed.
The episode comes two days after another fake emergency call sent law enforcement to his home in South Carolina on Dec. 30, 2023, in a malicious crime prank known as a hit-and-run.
The caller dubiously claimed that her daughter was lying in a pool of blood on the floor.
A woman answered the door and a Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputy who responded quickly concluded the call was a hoax, the report, first obtained by Reuters, showed.
Over the weekend, news first broke of the December 30 incident, in which a caller falsely claimed a man had shot a woman and was preparing to injure himself.
“I’m not at home, but Michael and I take care of my parents. They are 87 and 90, and we take care of them. And they’re home and with their caregivers,” Haley said of the first shooting incident on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday.

“It is a terrible situation. It puts law enforcement officers in danger. It puts my family in danger. And, you know, it’s not a safe situation.”
The South Carolina Republican later revealed, “We’ve had it twice.” Details of the second incident were not previously known.
Haley served as governor of South Carolina from 2011 to early 2017 and as US ambassador to the UN from 2017 to 2018.
Swatting has been increasingly used against a group of high-profile politicians in recent months, including prominent politicians such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) and Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows.

Haley’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Post also contacted the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office for additional information.
“We have been living in a chaotic country for a long time. It’s time we remember what we used to feel. It’s time we remember what healing feels like,” Haley added on Sunday.
“It’s time we remember what it’s like to not be divided, not to have hate.”

Haley returned to South Carolina, where she plans to campaign vigorously next month for the Republican nomination.
The Palmetto State GOP primary is set for February 24.
