Actor Norman Reedus is excited for fans to see his character, Daryl Dixon, again in his own “The Walking Dead” spin-off.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, AMC president Dan McDermott teased that the spin-off will “follow Daryl when he wakes up and finds himself somewhere on the continent of Europe and trying to piece together what happened. How did he get here? How will he get home?”
However, Reedus said that while that wasn’t the original plan for the series, it would be “f—ing epic.”

By the time it was first announced in September 2020, fans were excited to see the spin-off series starring Daryl and Carol, played by Melissa McBride. However, as soon as it was announced that the series would be filming overseas, McBride dropped out of the project.

Norman Reedus Says Melissa McBride Is ‘Making Time’
In May, the 53-year-old actor opened up about his spin-off series on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
While AMC’s previous statement said that Melissa had pulled out of the show because she was unable to film in Europe, Reedus said that Melissa decided to take some time off from acting after appearing on the premiere show since its first season.
“I knew it was going to be a lot different than the show, you know it was originally Carol and I – Melissa McBride and I – and she was taking time off,” Reedus explained. “You know, twelve years is a grueling schedule, and he wanted to take some time off so he did that and he deserved it.”

“I imagine the characters will meet again at some point and I’ll probably meet some other characters down the road,” he added. “He took time off and in the meantime, they were like ‘Hey, do you want to go on a mission? And I was like ‘Yes!’”
Shortly after McBride announced that he would be withdrawing from the series, online speculation began to circulate that Reedus was the reason he would no longer be a part of the new series. After considerable online backlash, the official AMC account released a statement clarifying that Reedus had no part in McBride’s decision to leave the spin-off show.
