The head of Norway’s armed forces warned NATO countries that they have only “two, maybe three” years to prepare for a Russian attack – just days after it was revealed that Germany was also preparing for that possibility.
Norwegian General Eirik Kristoffersen claimed Moscow was building up its military stockpile at a much faster rate than previously predicted, while Western countries had depleted their own weapons by supplying them to Ukraine, according to local outlet Daglabet.
“Now there is a window that will probably last for one, two, maybe three years, where we have to invest even more in a secure defense,” Kristoffersen told NTB, the Norwegian news agency, on Sunday.
“We don’t know what will happen to Russia in three years. It is important that we face an uncertain and unpredictable world with a strong national defence,” he said — urging Norwegians to start stockpiling food.

Kristoffersen noted that NATO needed to stay ahead of Moscow, which he said had turned to a “war economy” that was quickly supported by allies in Iran and North Korea.
The army chief also told Norwegians that they must all prepare for a possible war on the horizon, as their country shares a border with Russia.
“What Norwegians should think about is their own preparedness,” he said, referring to citizens stocking up on essentials. “We recommend everyone have three days to manage themselves, and we also recommend increasing it if you’re very vulnerable.”

Kristoffersen’s words echoed those of his Swedish counterpart, Supreme Commander Mikael Bydén, and the head of NATO’s military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, who stressed during Thursday’s summit that Eastern European countries should be ready for war.
The meeting came just three days after it was revealed that the German military was preparing for a possible Russian attack on NATO countries, an attack that could trigger World War III, according to leaked documents published in German newspaper Bild.
The German military is allegedly preparing for a Kremlin offensive that will see an additional 200,000 Russian troops deployed against Ukraine this February, prompted by Western financial support for Kyiv drying up.

By July, Russian forces will launch a series of offensives in the Baltics, with all-out war with NATO looming by 2025, according to documents obtained from the German Defense Ministry.
German intelligence also warned that the Kremlin would launch a propaganda campaign about the conflict along Russia’s new border to justify its offensive in Eastern Europe.
