The Norwegian king’s eldest daughter, Princess Märtha Louise, will marry her Hollywood partner, self-confessed shaman Durek Verrett, next summer, the couple announced Wednesday.
King Harald V said in a statement that his family was “delighted to welcome” Verret, who hails from California and claims to be a sixth-generation shaman.
The Norwegian princess can trace her lineage back to Britain’s Queen Victoria.

The couple, who toured the country in 2019 as “The Princess and The Shaman,” have made waves in Norway with their alternative beliefs.
For the past few years, Märtha Louise, 51, says she can talk to angels, while Verret, 48, claims that she communicates with all kinds of spirits, uses ancient medicine and has a medallion that helps ward off heavy energy, spells. and darkness.
The wedding will take place on August 24 in Geiranger, appreciated for its typical Norwegian scenery between mountains and fjords. Geiranger is located 165 miles north of Bergen, Norway’s second largest city.

VG newspaper, one of Norway’s largest, said that the wedding would be paid for privately.
“We are very happy to be able to celebrate our love in the beautiful surroundings of Geiranger. It means a lot to us to gather our loved ones in a place so rich in history and amazing nature. Geiranger was the perfect place to embrace our love,” the couple said in a statement.
State broadcaster NRK said that Verret would move to Norway.

And while he will join the royal family, he won’t have a title.
Although Princess Märtha Louise is the first child of King Harald V, her brother, Crown Prince Haakon, who is two years her junior, will succeed her father as king.
The Norwegian constitution was changed in 1990 to allow the eldest son, regardless of gender, to take precedence in the line of succession.

However, it was not done retroactively, meaning Haakon remained first in line to the throne.
Haakon’s eldest child, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, will one day ascend to the throne of Norway.
