The New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America ripped Tuesday’s massive pro-Israel rally in Washington, DC, as a “pro-Genocide march.
“Today’s Pro-Genocide March in DC is a sad attempt to match the energy of the millions of people who have marched, protested, picked up the phones and engaged in direct action to demand a Ceasefire and fight for a Free Palestine,” NYC-SDA write in the post.
“We have people on our side,” the group continued – adding a meme implying “Christian nationalists[s],” “Hitler apologized[s]”” Corporate Democrats[s],” the Israeli president and pro-Israel lobbyists have joined forces for the rally.
The DSA later defended its tweet in a statement emailed to The Post, saying the phrase “Hitler apologist” was a specific reference to Pastor John Hagee, a controversial figure who once said Hurricane Katrina was God’s revenge for gay people and that God sent Adolf Hitler to help the Jews reach the Promised Land.
Hagee spoke at the rally and told the crowd that “there is no middle ground in this conflict,” according to the Times of Israel.

A DSA representative said in a statement, “We are shocked and disgusted that the march features this right-wing extremist who has made comments suggesting Hitler’s actions were God’s will.”
But politicians from both sides of the aisle ripped the group for its overall position.
“DSA is a vile and shameful group that is anti-American and antisemitic,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Jewish Republican who attended the DC rally, told The Post. “It is a group that celebrates the crimes of the terrorist organization, Hamas.”
State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) voiced similar outrage, telling The Post that the DSA “deliberately minimizes and downplays the Holocaust and mocks Jews.

“It’s more than strange. Comparing Israel supporters to Hitler is out of bounds. How low can you go? Shame on them,” said Dinowitz, who is Jewish, supports Israel and travels to DC.
“The Social Democrats showed their true colors by joining a pro-Hamas rally the day after Hamas slaughtered Israel,” he continued. “Most of what DSA does is antisemitic.”
The DSA’s condemnation of the pro-Israel rally came as many of the organization’s leading members called for a ceasefire to stop what they called the Jewish state’s “genocide” in Gaza.
Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 11,000 Palestinians – two-thirds of them women and minors – since the October 7 attack, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in Gaza.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) has called out President Joe Biden for his support of Israel amid the ongoing conflict.
“Joe Biden supports the genocide of the Palestinian people,” he wrote in a video posted to X. “The American people will never forget.”
Tlaib, the only Palestinian in Congress, has since been criticized by his colleagues over comments supporting Palestinian liberation.
Fellow members of “Squad” Rep. Cori Busch (D-Mo.) introduced the resolution to Congress on Oct. 16. called for “immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine.”
The resolution has 17 Democratic co-sponsors, including New York Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman and Nydia Velazquez who all signed on to its introduction.
