Olivia Newton-John’s Widower John Easterling Says ‘She Was Very Alive’ During Her Last Days

John Easterling recently revealed that his late wife celebrated award-winning singer Olivia Newton-John “free from pain” when she died. The “Grease” actor died on August 3, 2022, at the age of 73, after a long battle with cancer.

Newton-John had cancer three times; however, the latter case developed too quickly, leaving little to be done. The actor first revealed his cancer diagnosis to the public in 1992; however, he recovered and became an advocate for cancer-related research.

By 2017 Newton-John revealed that the disease had returned and spread to his spine. It was back in 2013, but he decided not to share the news with the public.

Speaking about his late wife, Newton-John, Easterling revealed that in her final days, she was “free from pain.” He joined Daily Telegraph in Australia for an interview and revealed that although his recurring illness came with many difficulties, at the end of his life, he experienced “peace.”

The American businessman said, per Daily Mail“He was very clear and very alive and very conscious and not in pain. So there was a quality of life there at that time that I think was very critical.”

Easterling also spoke of Newton-John’s “uncanny ability to care” for people. According to him, he would most likely be surprised by the great outpouring of grief over his death and brush it off. “All the compliments… he would reject them,” he said. “He’s just busy focusing on living his life as a joyful spirit.”

Newton-John and Easterling met each other in the mid-90s, a few years after she recovered from her first cancer diagnosis. By June 2008, they were married in an Incan spiritual ceremony held in Peru and, nine days later, legally tied the knot in Jupiter Island, Florida.
