The star of her big family’s reality TV show Welcome to Plathville is sharing how crazy the similarities are in the lives of the Duggar kids and her own family growing up. “That was my life until a few years ago,” Plath admitted.

He shared the news on his Instagram Story, calling it “A bit of a trigger to watch.” He continued the revealing message. “There is solidarity when other people speak up and say, ‘Yeah, you’re not crazy, it happened to me too. I know about this.’ That’s healing in a way.”

Plath received so much support from fans, friends, and even family members who had no idea how bad things were for her and her sister who grew up with the same fundamentalist religion as the Duggar kids.

After her shocking Instagram Live broadcast, Plath chose to go live on Instagram with her sister to thank fans for supporting her and encouraging her to share more of her story. He said he has received “an overwhelming response from people saying, ‘Please, let’s talk about this.'”

He and Lydia, his sister, decided to talk about their experiences as “ex-[fundamentalist] and children of former cults.” He spoke boldly. “I would say, the realm in which my public life exists; there are many things I cannot say.”

The surprise continues. “There are many things I want to say about religion, about my past, about the world that I am returning to, and I don’t know how to say them in the public space that exists for me, so I will go up [Instagram] vice versa.”

The TLC reality star informed her fans. “I’m frank to say my experience, to be honest, was negative. There are a lot of things I’m laughing at right now because what else do you have to do?”

Plath also shared that she was “no longer religious.” He was happy to see this as the doctor revealed what he had been denying for years. He stepped out of his comfort zone and embraced a YouTube couple who have devoted their channels to calling out religious fundamentalists.

“Jennifer + James … or as you may know it, Fundie Fridays. ? It was an honor to document their day + love. When Jennifer emailed me asking if I could photograph their wedding, I can’t lie, my head was spinning a little,” he admits.

Olivia continued, “Growing up as a fundie kid, deconstructing it as an adult, and then photographing the marriage of two leading voices in fundie snark/accountability was a FULL circle moment. Maybe several circles worth it.”
