While Olivia Rodrigo is getting slammed by fans and the media for handing out Plan B and condoms, new allegations reveal it wasn’t the singer’s idea.
At the concert of St. Louis artist ‘Vampire’ recently, his fans embraced birth control options after Missouri announced a ban on all abortions except to save the life of the pregnant person.

Photo shared to Xthe social media platform formerly known as Twitter, shows the gifts that Rodrigo’s fans received at the show.
“Free plan b at @oliviarodrigo in St. Louis tonight,” the photo was captioned.
The distribution comes after Missouri “began to enforce its trigger ban, which bans all abortions except to save the life of a pregnant person,” according to the Center for Reproductive Rights. This comes “following the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization,” something Rodrigo has said on numerous occasions.
Missouri Abortion Fund Takes Responsibility For Latest Concert Handout

The Missouri Abortion Fund now claims that even though the ‘Good 4 U’ artist invited promoters to provide space at his concert arena, it was not his choice to provide birth control options.
“It’s our decision to pass out the EC,” the Missouri Abortion Fund told Rolling Stone.
Robin Frisella, Director of Community Engagement for the Missouri Abortion Fund, said, “While we are disappointed to learn that other abortion funds will not have the same opportunity to do the same, we are encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive response.”
Adding, “We can’t talk about why this decision was made, but we hope this conversation highlights the work that abortion funds do every day in states across the country. We stand by our decision to submit EC and will increase our efforts to provide this to our community.”

While some slammed the ‘Good 4 U’ singer, others supported him, thanking him for his distribution.
A fan of Olivia Rodrigo praised the singer, “Queen of pro choice! We love her for that,” as another noted, “Making sure people have the choice not to be a mother. Oh, that’s mom over there.”
Another chimed in saying, “OMG this is a sweet gesture from Olivia and her team,” as one user X said, “We love to see a celebrity who is truly dedicated to their cause and who doesn’t just repost things.”
Others Slam Olivia After Recent Hand Out

Others, however, disagreed with the recent giveaway at Rodrigo’s concert.
Missouri’s Republican state senator Bill Eigel aired on X, claiming the ‘Vampire’ singer should be “shameful” for providing an “abortifacient.”
“As a father of a daughter, I am horrified by this,” Eigel wrote in a post, “Olivia Rodrigo fainted from an abortion at her concert in St. Louis last night. This is sponsored by the Missouri Abortion Fund. Many of his fans are CHILDREN.”
It should be noted that the morning after pill distributed at Rodrigo’s concert did not terminate the pregnancy, but it prevented it. According to the NHS website, “Emergency contraception can prevent you from getting pregnant after unprotected sex… You should use emergency contraception within 3 to 5 days of having unprotected sex.”
Eigel didn’t stop there as he continued to claim, “Abortion hurts women. Physical damage of course, but also psychological. Women who have had abortions have higher rates of anxiety, mental health problems, substance abuse and s–sid.”
He then tagged the singer, saying he was “actively hurting women in Missouri by championing abortion. Shame on him.”
The Olivia Rodrigo 4 Nonprofit Fund

Olivia Rodrigo has been vocal in her fight for reproductive health care, having launched her own non-profit, Fund 4 Good, which “will directly support community-based non-profits that fight for things like girls’ education, supporting reproductive rights and preventing gender-based violence . “
A portion of Rodrigo’s tour ticket sales will go to abortion funds across the US through his non-profit. Additionally, he has allowed local human rights groups to set up booths where he performs.
The Grammy award-winning pop star, who has teamed up with the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) for her latest tour, has yet to comment on the recent controversy.
