Olivia Wilde Says ‘Not Always Easy To Keep Going’ Following ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Drama

Olivia Wilde will not be dragged down by drama.

The actor-turned-director made a stunning appearance at owned by ELLE “Women In Hollywood” event on Monday, October 17.

Wilde wore a black, puffy dress with a bold face cut. The side chest comes to play.

Wilde was among a handful of heavy-hitting women honored at the event. The “Don’t Worry Darling” director is recognized for his style of filmmaking in a male-dominated industry.

He didn’t mince words in his acceptance speech.

“I have known some of you for a very long time, I believe it has been 20 minutes. Some of you I could have met when I was a casting assistant; I’m the one who over-serves you coffee for three hours and then tells you we don’t have bathroom or parking confirmation. Sorry about that,” he joked. “You are great; we just went the other way. So, for those of you that I’ve known forever, hi again. Still me. For those of you I haven’t met yet, it’s a pleasure. I’m Olivia, a member of the Sigourney fraternity.”

Wilde continued his speech by joking that he would never have started directing had he known Twitter would be invented.

This comes after Wilde and her “Don’t Worry Darling” cast reportedly clashed on set over her romance with Harry Styles. It also comes after Shia LaBeouf publicly dissed Wilde for lying about his departure from the film.

They offer us the opportunity to look each other in the eye and say, ‘Go on.’ Because, let’s face it, it’s not always easy to get on with it.”

This bright moment happened to happen hours after Wilde and her former nanny Jason Sudeikis released a revealing interview with Daily Mail about the former couple’s toxic relationship and her rumored relationship with Styles.

“In fact, sometimes it’s tempting to turn away from the fiery hellfire of misogyny that defines this business and say, ‘Good night, good luck, I’d rather eat glass for a living,'” Wilde admits. “But we won’t let each other down. Recently, I’ve had several opportunities to experience firsthand the power of encouragement from other women in this business. It usually takes the form of a firm grip on your shoulder and a sharp look in your eye and ‘Don’t let them have sex with you .’ And it’s always tempting to answer, ‘Well, if I didn’t know a bad thing before, I do now.’ Just kidding; it’s always greatly appreciated.”

He explains the profound impact these moments have on one’s mindset and career trajectory.

Because they’re probably our most honest acknowledgments of the constant battle we’re all fighting, where we’re allies,” Wilde added. “Depending on each other not to back down and stop advancing because we are up against enormous oppositional forces that have, for centuries, tried to restrain us. If one of us retreats, we all retreat. So, no matter how much patriarchy depends on us to reduce each other to weaken our collective power, we must resist the urge to play by their selfish rules.”

It took him a while to get to know his daughter along with the daughter of a colleague.

“Remind the world and especially our daughters that we are not so easily manipulated. So this evening, here tonight, thanks to Nina and to everyone at ELLE, this is one of those moments. I feel energized by all of you, and I feel motivated to keep fighting through hellfire,” Wilde said firmly. “Let’s face it: You’re not a woman in Hollywood until you beg to be put into a medically induced coma until your press tour is over. Until then, you’re just a woman living in or around the Hollywood area.”
