Actress Olivia Wilde has opened up about co-parenting with “Ted Lasso” co-star Jason Sudeikis.
The couple began dating in 2011 but called off their relationship in 2022. During their time together, they shared two children, Otis, 8, and daughter Daisy, 5, whom they have co-parented since their split.
Ahead of the official debut of her new film “Don’t Worry Darling,” Wilde shared that co-parenting with her ex was “hard” but has allowed her to see her children in a new light.
The actress is now in a new relationship with singer Harry Styles, who also stars in her film. Wilde recently denied rumors that her romance with Styles was the reason for her split from Sudeikis.

Olivia Wilde Says ‘It’s Hard’ Parenting With Jason Sudeikis
In a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Wilde spoke openly about the challenges she faces sharing parenting rights for her two children — son Otis, 8, and daughter Daisy, 5, with “Book Smart” star Sudeikis.

“It’s tough,” Wilde said on the daytime show. “I think re-forming the family is difficult.
Wilde’s comments seem to foreshadow the messy battle he has been involved in with his ex-partner. While the couple appeared to be co-parenting their children amicably following their 2020 split, things turned sour after the comedian-turned-producer filed custody papers on Wilde earlier that year.
At the time, the actress described Sudeikis’ actions as unpleasant, adding that his actions had a negative effect on their children.
“For me, it’s terrible, but the victims are 8- and 5-year-old children, and that’s really sad,” he explained. Today. “I chose to be an actor; I willingly walked to the focal point. But it wasn’t something my kids asked for. And when my children were dragged into it, it was very painful.”
Olivia Wilde’s New Relationship With Her Children
Elsewhere in her interview with Clarkson, Wilde revealed that being a single mother isn’t so bad, saying it has helped her see her children in a new light.
“One benefit is that it allowed for very deep conversations with my children about emotions, about happiness and about the meaning of family, and love,” she reveals. “It actually allowed me to get to know them in a different way. My priority is they’re, like, that’s what happened. As long as they’re happy and they’re healthy, you know, me and my ex, we agree [that] they are everything to us.”
The actress later said that she is not worried about her children one day having siblings from different fathers. He added, “There are so many families that are blended and in different forms. If you can surround a child with so much love, then it’s okay.
Olivia Wilde On Parenthood
Wilde has previously been open about his feelings for his children, including discussing his views on parenting at length. Most recently, the actress highlighted the struggles of parenting in a heartfelt statement she shared on Instagram Stories in June.

She also used the story at the time to inspire women around the world to persevere in raising their children properly.
“I know it’s hard right now, and you sometimes feel like a big failure, but soon they will wake up before you and write thoughtful notes. Stay strong.” she captioned the post, per Yahoo.
For now, it is unclear what the court’s decision will be in Wilde’s custody battle with Sudeikis. In the meantime, the couple continues to share custody of their children.
She Denies Rumors About Her New Relationship
Following a custody battle, Wilde was forced to deny reports that she ended her romance with Sudeikis to be with “Watermelon Sugar” singer Styles.

“The idea of a complete horse that I left Jason for Harry is not accurate,” he said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “Our relationship ended long before I met Harry.”
“Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight,” she continued. “Unfortunately, Jason and I had a very bumpy road, and we broke up around the start of the outbreak.”
Meanwhile, the actress has been promoting her new film “Don’t Worry Darling,” which premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Monday. The film is set to hit theaters on September 23 and stars Styles and “Black Widow” actress Florence Pugh.
